Just bought a Weatherby Carbonmark in 300 WBY. Its the old-school one wearing a Proof barrel with 5/8×24 threads.

Whats the best lightweight directional brake for it in you guy's opinion?

419? APA?

Thanks!

If you can get in contact with Insite Arms, they may still have their lightweight version of the Heathen available. They're stupid light. The one on my CTR has seen probably seen 700-1000 rounds through it between a couple different rifles. No major issues so far.

This is a weight comparison of our original steel brake and then our Heathen-Lite:
std steel
.750 dia Heathen = 2 oz / 54g
.885 dia Heathen = 3.2 oz / 90.7g
.995 dia Heathen = 4.5 oz / 127.5g

Heathen-Lite:
.750 dia Heathen = 0.7 oz / 19.9g
.885 dia Heathen = 1.1 oz / 31.2g
.995 dia Heathen = 1.6 oz / 45.4g

I would second the Insite Heathen.

Have also owned the APA and Area 419 brakes, and the Heathen is the most refined brake between the three.

I’ve run APA Little Bastards, Area 419 Hellfires, Seekins ATC, and I just recently got a 30 cal brake for my dads hunting rifle from Macs Gunworks/NWP up in Gillette, WY....Just throwing out another option.

PVA has the ultralight jet blast. I haven’t tried the Heathen but have had all the Area419 brakes and Apa LB2 and I enjoy the Jet blasts much more and have since swapped all my other brakes out for the Jet Blast.
