My build will be here shortly. It's in 6.5 Creedmoor. Currently I have 100 pieces of brass, dies (of course), a fair powder selection (4350, RL15, 4227, Varget and probably a few more suitable powders), and some 140 grain A-Max.

I plan to hunt with this rifle. I'd also like to get some additional training and even shoot a few LR matches. I've read that the Berger bullets are very good on game. Sierra has the Game King. And there are lots of shooters hunting with match bullets. What say you guys?

Thanks for the help. You don't seem to need to pad your post count. Just bored?

Use those 140gr AMax and don't worry about different bullets. Those AMaxs are cheap, good on targets and game, plus affordable. Bergers will get the job done as well, but cost a good bit more. I like JLK as well but not for hunting.

Re: Best 6.5 all around projectile?

I've had better luck with 140 SMKs than with A-Max. Seem to fly a little better with my rifles. In fact, I have about 400 140gr A-Maxs I'm getting ready to drop in the for sale section...

142 smk's, they will perform and they are not OAL sensative. Best bang for the buck. I am also starting to become a 140 vld fan, though they are a little more
Per shot.

I have shot everything from 120 to 142 and brands from breger to hornady, sierra and Lapua, haven't found a bad projectile my 260 didn't like a lot, my favorites are the 120's Amax and SMK for under 800 yds and the 142 SMK at 2850fps from 800yds to 1250yds so far.

That's good to hear about the 120 A-Max and SMK. Now that I'll have a 6.5 precision rifle, I'd like to add a 6.5 upper for my AR (one day). I hear the Grendel really shines with bullet weights in the 120's.

Re: Best 6.5 all around projectile?

H4350 and some 140 AMAX! All you need. All I have used since 2008.

If you want to go lighter then the 123 AMAX has a better BC than the 120s.

Re: Best 6.5 all around projectile?

Ours will shoot about anything you put in front of H4350 and isn't picky about seating depth. Darn thing is almost a magic caliber. We can switch between 139 scenars and Hornady 140BTHP Match bullets and still be on target with only maybe an occasional tweak just to center them up even to 1000 yards.

Pick one and go for it. I like the 140BTHP Match bullets because they are inexpensive and mostly because no one else is using them where we shoot and they make the steel ring just like the higher priced stuff. I like to use stuff that others bypass, makes it cool to be different.

Nope, nope, nope. Don't you believe this. The Hornady 140 BTHP sucks. Hornady should be ashamed for putting it on the market. There is no reason for you to try these. Besides, if you do, it'll just make it a bit harder for me to get my hands on them...

+1 on the 140 A-max's, have some Nosler 140 CC on the way because they were cheap and will be ordering the Hornady 140 BTHP's next. My 6.5 Creedmoor liked 41.5 of H4350 with the 140 A-max's set to 2.81 COAL. This was an easy 1/2" group, not sure what the velocity was as I was working on a ladder test. Will be loading some more up and will check the velocity this time.
