This should make a good introductory post. I'm currently working full time in a gun shop down here in the deserts of SoCal. My boss is a gunsmith of 40 years, and is teaching me the trade. Well, at least enough to have a good start in a real school for the trade after I graduate high school. (Private school). For now I'm just the AR builder and go-to guy for customers that have questions on the platform.
This is my personal 700 in .223, and we used it as my first project gun (as my budget would allow). It started out as an old school 24" varmint in a beautiful wood stock and gloss blue finish, then we turned it into this.
Cut and re-crowned the barrel, bedded new B&C stock, re-blued the metal in a matte finish, trigger job down to roughly 1.5bs, bolt knob, and new optics. Knob was created by a machinist friend. I did everything except what involved the lathe/mill. Not quite to that point yet.
So, the last thing I need for this beauty is a detachable magazine. I could have googled it, but I figured I'd use it as an excuse to introduce myself!
