So why does some stuff online say it’s 3lb and not adjustable? You read this anywhere?I have a timney and a jard. The jard I have down at 4 oz, very nice. The timney is at the lowest possible pull weight of 1.5 pounds. Between the two the break on the timney is much nicer but you can very easily get the jard below half a pound and it’s still safe. I had the gun bloke spring in the factory trigger and that was great, but prefer a single stage so I upgraded. If you want super light pull and a decent break, go with jard. If you are ok with 1.5# but want it to break like glass, timney.
I'd sell it for 110$ shipped, its been laying on a shelf in the gun room for a long time.I just bought one off optics planet for $142 shipped. What would you sell it for? If it was low enough to go through the trouble or returning it I would be interested. It the 609 right?
Deal. Text meI'd sell it for 110$ shipped, its been laying on a shelf in the gun room for a long time.
I did that. It’s still around 3lbs. 1.5-2 lb is what I want. The HACT IS a good trigger but it’s heavy. What’s wrong with the factory trigger? Cut a coil off the factory spring and it’s still drop safe and around 14-16 oz.
How light do you want?
I ended up buying the Timney. I have mine probably at 1lb but to trigger measurer. No slam fires tho I tested it quite a bit.Does anyone have any experience with Rifle Basix triggers? They make a 12oz - 1.5lb Howa 1500 trigger, and I'm sort of torn between that and the Jard 9-16oz trigger.

Nice, haha. No slam fires is good. I ended up ordering the Rifle Basix trigger. I'll see in a few days if that was a mistake or not.I ended up buying the Timney. I have mine probably at 1lb but to trigger measurer. No slam fires tho I tested it quite a bit.
Agreed. Was gonna buy a Timney trigger, but figured I'd cut a coil from the stock trigger first. Ended up cutting about a coil and a half and it is excellent. Probably under 1.5 lbs. I see no reason to spend money on an aftermarket trigger.I've had Timneys on a couple of Howa 1500 & Mini actions; they're ok, but honestly, I'd just as soon clip a coil on the HACT trigger spring and stick with it. That's what I've done on all five of the Mini custom builds of my own, and I'm happy with them. Maybe if you're in business doing gun work, it's safer to install a Timney rather than modify a stock HACT trigger from a liability standpoint, but otherwise, for my personal rifles, I'm good with the modified HACT.
I cut mine and it made it better, but wasn’t down to the 1-1.5lb range. They’re excellent triggers, idk why so heavy from the factory.Agreed. If your modified factory trigger breaks at 1lb I wouldn’t upgrade. The Timney only goes to around 1.5lb.I have the old Howa trigger, cut spring and polished, and adjusted as good as I'm ever going to get the original one.
Think mine breaks at a bit less than 1 lbs currently, pretty much zero creep.
Would a Jard or Timney be a worthwhile upgrade?
Anyone have experience with the Rifle Basix trigger?

I second this statement, run a jard at 6-8 oz on all 3 of my howas, moved from timney to jard. What makes it better IMO besides the lighter pull is you can adjust over travel, sear engagement as well. Not quite as crispy as a TT Diamond or a BnA tac sport pro but about the best out there for the Howa. I did contact TT about the Howa and they mentioned a trigger was in the works, however this was 3 years ago and don’t know if they dropped it.Old thread...
Jard = TT Diamond for Howa.
Do it.
My HACT is a two stage.
I understand the Timney is a single stage.
What are the Jard and Rifle Basix?

I haven’t had the opportunity to do a side-by-side, but I’m very happy with my Rifle BasixHopefully the comparison holds for Howa: I can say that the Savage Rifle Basix is better than the Savage Jard.
What is the pull weight and trigger type? I really want a flat trigger.I haven’t had the opportunity to do a side-by-side, but I’m very happy with my Rifle Basix
The Rifle Basix is not flat; not sure about the Jard. The Rifle Basix is honestly a damn good trigger, though. I have it set to at or just below 1lb now, with literally zero pre-/over-travel, zero creep, and I was basically spearing my chassis into my carpeted floor unsuccessfully trying to get it to slam fire.I know this is an old thread, but two follow up questions if any of you are still around here.
(1) are either the Jard or the Rifle Basix triggers flat?
(2) Does cutting the OEM spring eliminate the creep?
Thanks
Over a year late of a reply… probably useless by now, lol… but I have it set to about 1lb, single-stage, and it’s a traditional trigger bow (i.e., not flat). What is the pull weight and trigger type? I really want a flat trigger.
I have had a Rifle Basix on a Savage for 15 years now and it breaks clean and I’ve had it out hunting in freezing rain and dusty range days and never had a single issue with it.Anyone have experience with the Rifle Basix trigger?
