What are some takes on the best choice of ammo and reloading equipment. Remington 700 308. I am a newbie looking to stay in the 500 yard range for a while to get comfortable and some practice in.

I am definitly interested in it. My cousin and I are going to split the equipment so I am not on that tight of a budget. From what I understand not only is it better, but also a huge $ saver.

Redding Type-S dies, Forster co-ax press, Lapua 155g Scenar bullets, Lapua brass is the best Winchester is okay, CCI BR2 primers, Varget.

not alot of guys here load like this but look at arbor press and wilson dies micro bullet seater, lee hand primer, lee thrower, it allows you to develop, on the fly at the range
but you'll still need cheap single stage press and dies to ocassionally full legnth, and or shoulder bump, or body size and of course trim
also look into ultrasonic cleaning vs vibratory?
+1 on lapua $$$ followed by hornaday brass and amax bullets

Buy once, cry once; get the most flexibility for the money.
To me, that calls for a Dillon RL550B, Winchester brass, Sierra bullets, Hodgdon Powders, and CCI primers. Best place to start. BIG vibrating brass cleaner. Improve on that as experience and reasonable experimentation dictates. Stick with one caliber until it drives you bonkers, then do it again with <span style="font-style: italic">one</span> more caliber at a time.
Don't be the handloader who is the jack of all calibers and master of none. Handload for others only at your own extreme peril.
