Skip the cost of the background check and require potential employees to have a FL fingerprint card. The potential employee has to cover the cost and the background is performed by FL LE through NCIC/FBI records.
I didn't take the time to check FL but I would bet that they have a public records site that you can search the name of the potential employee on for free. Typically anything more than a misdemeanor will show up as a superior court record.
I use TLOxp quite often. The results are hit or miss, but for times when I don't want to, or cannot for legal reasons do a check through NCIC, it works okay.
