So what is the best recomended twist and barrel length for the 115 Dtac out of a 243? Would a 26in 1-11 stabilize this bullet?

Several 6XC's are in the shooting circle I'm in and only the 1-7.5 barrels shoot the 115's with authority. Velocity is around 2,900+ with those rifles. Several have tried the 1-8 but, they didnt fair as well. My next XC barrel will be 1-7.5 so I can shoot the 115's, I'd think with the .243 it'd be same/same. 1-7.5 finished @ 26" and you'd be GTG. As far as 6mm barrels go, 1-8 is the slowest I'd ever go and that'd be for the 105/107's.

I'm shooting a Surgeon 6XC. It's using a Rock 1:7.5 twist barrel, and I'm pushing the DTAC to 2950 fps w/ RE-17. Before I picked a 7.5 twist barrel, I talked to David Tubb and Gary Schneider. Both encourage me to get a 7.5. Both of them are far smarter than I, so it's hard to disregard their recommendations.
It's quite accurate, and has no stabilization problems in cold weather. FWIW, I'm at sea level.
The replacement barrel is in the basement, it's a 1:7.5 Schneider 5P.

Thanks all for the info, very informative and helpful. Although this info kinda puts a damper to my plans of shooting out the stock barrel of the rem 243 that I have been semi customizing. Sounds like a new barrel is also needed asap! Anyone have a blank 26? Or where to get one with the best turnaround? Thanks

Stock Rem .243s are usually 9 1/8" twist and not 11". The 9 1/8" will shoot Hornady 105 AMAX bullets very well. You might try them out before scraping the whole barrel.
