Gunsmithing BEST BARREL "LINING" MATERIAL?

Re: BEST BARREL "LINING" MATERIAL?

Hexavalent chrome is pretty damned tough, but it's expensive and environmentally unfriendly.. I've heard rumors about some new thing the military was evaluating that was a vapor deposited refractory metal alloy, but do not have many details on it.

I thought hex-chrome was a carcinogen. If so that must be a bitch to apply...

I'm sure the individuals that apply it don't drink it.

All heavy metals are considered environmentally unfriendly by the environmentalist wackos, including lead.

Re: BEST BARREL "LINING" MATERIAL?

You could talk someone into making you a stellite liner for your barrel. It would only cost a lot more than the gun itself but you would never be able to wear it out. =)

That's the ticket! Wondering when someone would mention it. Nothing like a $10 shine for a $2 pair of boots.
