Re: Best caliber/rifle for 600-1000 yards.
Again,,Showing me a score or piece of paper proves nothing.Im not saying anybody can or can't shoot well.Hunt or hunt well at long ranges.
I just feel it makes no sence to tell someone to prove something is true, or made up over the internet..
The ones that can really shoot don't have to prove anything.
Im just saying that someone can be an Excellent shooter and hunter from only being exposed to ONE rifle or 3..
So someone asking for advice on a long range specialised rig but not knowing much about them, does not sound false to me..
Most of the time the person who only has one rifle usually makes the most of it and is far better with that rifle(shot consistency, trigger control, and hunting skill with it) than someone with many... no matter what the quality, design,,OR cost is IMO.
JMO(and Not alot of experience to back it up
)308 would probably be best because of the over the counter options.
I would choose 223 because I am a wimp with recoil..If handloading was an option,I would go with something in 6mm-6.5mm if you want better BC and speed..
AR15 would be my 1st pick for coyotes. But I am not a good hunter so what the hell do I know.
I would never think of hitting a deer far away unless it was drugged so it can't move when I take the shot
.Thats me , my skill level,,And fear of not making a clean kill.
I do believe I can target shoot O.K. But I am virgin to longer ranges than 625 yards..
If you are sure recoil won't bother your ability to shoot, you have alot more options.
