Best fast food French Fries

WTF is Jacks?

McDonalds fries are hard to beat. The rest of their food can fuck right off though.

Chick Fil A waffle fries are also usually hard to beat...

If Whataburger fries are hot they are fantastic.

Any place that fries in peanut oil like Charley's Sub's are also high on the list.

I would vote In N Out to have the nastiest french fries I have ever had.

WTF is Jacks?

It is a chain in the southeast.

European McD's are better than the US, or they used to be when they still used animal fat to fry them in, but when you get them fresh and salty in the States?

KFC's potato wedges and Arby's curly fries are great (but I almost always get potato cakes at the latter, dip 'em in horsey sauce and ketchup). Checkers' seasoned fries are less good but still tasty.

Wendy's fries and CFA's waffles are great fresh too.

Burger King, Hardee's, and Sonic? Not if I could choose otherwise, and at Sonic I do. Tater tots every time.

(Oh and there's also Five Guys but that's not really fast food IMO.)

Ive been ALL OVER the south east and honestly never seen one of those.

Just searched and see they are all over Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery area... Ive been to all those places more than I want to admit and I have never seen one. Catfish looks good, at least in the pictures.

Next time at Burger King, try dipping the fries in the o'ring zesty sauce. They are outstanding that way.

Beef fat fried chips for the win anywhere!!!

There is no beating McDonald’s, but only if their hot.

Once they cool it’s poison but out of the fryer and on the paper bag...non better.

And I’m a Burger King fan. Lol

In N Out Burger for sure. Best fast food I've ever had. Unfortunately they are only in a few states and I can no longer get where I am.

in and out is the best fast food, the fries are also best when just out of the fryer. Once they cool down to room temperature they become soft and less tasteful.

Honestly I avoid Burger King at all costs most of the time. In fact I don't remember the last time I got a fast-food burger. Or fast-food fries outside of stealing one or two from friends.

I hear all this about In-n-Out but I don't think that place really exists. It's some kinda Yankee myth, I'd wager, like Jack-in-the-Box or Red Robin.

Right now, in and out well done. Not the light tan squishy stuff.

Years ago before we had to have "healthy" fast food Burger King double bacon cheeseburger and large fries.

What say you? Which franchise makes the best?

I say Jack's because of their use of popcorn seasoning. That sets them apart from the plain salt users.
I read the title of the thread, and my instant response was “Jacks!” In addition to the seasoning, they have plenty of salt and the crinkle-cut increases the surface area, making them crispier.
I also like the Five Guys fries, and CFA waffle fries. I’m surprised all the In ‘N Out fans haven’t mentioned Animal-Style fries. I’ve only had them once (in Vegas) but they were good. I like Burger King burgers ok, but their fries are terrible.

Steak and Shake then McDonald's. Dip those McDonald's fries into a strawberry milkshake.

I was coming here to say the same thing, except a vanilla shake. There is no fries like hot salty McDonald’s fries dipped in a vanilla milk shake. The rest of their food sucks. I haven’t had a McDonald’s burger since 1986.

Small chain in Arkansas - David's Burgers. Granted, I ordered a burger and got chicken, but it was good. Fries put Five Guys to shame!!! This was the one by Bass Pro Shops.

Medium Chain - Jim and Nicks BBQ

Large Chain - 5-guys (No In-and-Out near me).

3-way tie for me with McDonald's, Jack In The Box curly fries, and Five Guys cajun fries.

I see In-N-Out mentioned here and have to comment on that because those are probably the worst fries I ever had from a fast food place. Yeah, they're fresh and all, but they have no flavor to them whatsoever. It's literally just potatoes and salt. My eloquent fast food taste buds demand more flavor!

For small chains, Kinder’s seasoned fries are unreal. The down side is that they only have stores in the CA Bay Area. Get a ball tip sandwich and fries, if you are ever forced to visit commie land. The fries have a bbq/spicy seasoning that will change the way you taste fries for ever.

If I'm in sf I'm not ordering anything with ball and tip in the name!
I know, but it’s just the top muscle that sits over the tri tip. As I was typing it, I knew that it would probably lead to a comment or two. Kinders is more of an East bay thing, so there is a bit of a gap. Pun intended.

Truth is...if the franchise doesn't change out their oil at the recommended frequency they suck!
I had forgotten how good fries done in old fashion lard were, until I visited the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas, August 2018.
I wish the fast food joints would go back to lard.

When I lived in Arizona I do t remember ever ordering there fries. Just ordered burgers from them.
Burgers not special either. I work for a company in California and used to spend half my time there, either 2 weeks straight every month or every other week. People visiting our office from other states always wanted to try In-N-Out and I'd be like "let's go to Huntington Beach and get some seafood".
