Hey everyone, just got to thinking about scope caps and am wondering what people are liking? The Alaskans engineering ones kind of caught my eye but have never used them. How about the nf caps? I have tried butler creek, have cortex defenders now and they are ok but not great. I have a set of the aluminum ones on a Leupold. Wish they all did that!

Tenebraex are nice, depending on the scope you have you need to get the right parts and pieces. I bought Aadland and those are what I prefer to use on scopes that they make ones for. Great quality, strong, lifetime guarantee as well. When you order they might be backordered but they do a good job making and getting them out to you.

Just got my first pair of Aadands for a 1x6 kahles and they are very nice, also have Tenebraex and Butler Creek.I prefer the Aadland and Tenebraex over the BC caps.

Any pro & cons between Tenebraex and Aadlands?

Aadlands flip all the way open and lay up against/ontop of your scope with just flipping them open, Tenebraex you have to "click" open one extra notch.
The Tenebraex are awesome for stuff like nightforce where the entire eyepiece rotates, you probably wouldnt be able to use AADLands.

Either are great really, but I definitely prefer the AADLands.

I'm not sure about "The Best" but I use the Vortex Defender flip caps and find them very good. I have not used the high end caps like the Tenebraex and the ADDMOUNT caps but have used the Butler Creek caps and find the Vortex caps to be much better in terms of fit and materials.

VooDoo

^I agree with that, definitely better than butler creek.

My only issue with the vortex caps is that they are "rubber" with a plastic ring insert, so the front of them can shift around. But they do flip open and lay perfectly flat which is nice, and they arent too expensive.

I only have ever used BC or the Defenders from vortex. The BC were garbage a broke extremely easily.

I have seen people mention that the Defenders dont fit that well, but on my Gen 2 Razor they fit really well. Extremely hard to remove, and havent noticed them shift.

Yea I have vortex defenders on my Gen 2 Razor currently. They are pretty damn good.

Butler Creek suck balls.....

I actually have 3 sets of the defenders, and while not terrible, it seems like they always become crooked after you open or close them. Sometimes they don’t want to open without pulling them half way off.

They're great on my Gen II PST. The eyepiece fits like garbage on my HST however. Have not looked up or measured the eyepieces for comparison, but the HST is either quite a bit smaller or the eyepiece cap is out of spec.

I have used Butler Creek for several years because they were easy to find locally. Two of the eye pieces broke. Decided to try a set of Aadlands based on SH members recommendations and positive reports. Will not be going back to BC. Aadland did not have mine in stock so I back ordered. Back order was filled within two weeks. I think you will really be pleased with them.

I have a set of Defenders on a vortex 4-16x44 and they are a bit sloppy , move around a lot. but is good to hear that they fit good on the Gen 2 Razor. Just ordered the 4.5-27x56 today told him I didn't want the Defenders I can call back tomorrow and get him to chuck them in unless the Aadlands are a way lot better

I would like a set of aadlands just to see the difference. I got a good price on the defenders when they first came out. Otherwise I was looking at the aadlands.

I only have Butler Creek and defender comparison on my own personal scopes, and wont go down the butler creek option again.

My father has a Z6i Swarovski with their branded caps, and they work. Magnets hold them closed. Used to be an o-ring, but the objective o-ring used to always pull out when opened. So they replaced the caps.

No comparison between the BC and Defender stuff to the Admount product. So much better fit and finish. They are more expensive but if I am spending as much as I do on my optics an extra $100 is cheap insurance to ensure the glass stays in tip-top shape.

I used to have some Leupold caps that with the magnet closer and would screw into both the ocular and objective of the scope and they were really nice. I wish they would make them for a few more of their products but I am sure the money is not there to be made on them.

Aadlands seem most durable but they open with such authority they aren't really suitable for hunting. Tenebraex is bit sleeker design in my opinion and can be opened silently so I went with those. People say good things about Vortex Defenders but they're huge chunk of black condom because they made them "one size fits all".

I haven't tried the Aadland, but Tenebraex really did me solid. I got a laser filter and ard for an Acog and got a set of tenebraex caps for it. But they sold me the wrong eyepiece cap. I sent 'em an email with a picture showing how it fit shitty and wouldn't close and asked what I needed to do, and they sent me a new cap and proper adapter for it. No cost. That was cool.

So when I needed 'em for the MRO's and this 6x48 Acog, I got Tenebraex. They're really nice, much better than Butler Creek, which I still have more than once set that needs to be replaced.

I may try Aadland on one scope to try it out when I get around to it, only heard good about them too.

Would like to find a cap that'll fit a USO spotter and a PVS30. Nobody seems to make one big enough. Or to know of another that might fit (thread in).

I would like to see a set of the Aadland but I don't know where to find them do you know how they would fit on a Gen 2 Razor

Thanks for all of your info I appreciate it ,I read lots of good things about the Tenebraex , but I think I will try the Aadmount

Hey thanks for the reply. I will be ordering a set before the sun sets today Looks like your scope sits perfect on your Tikka. are they low rings or med. My scope will ship today maybe two weeks for the caps to ship and I'm thinking of getting a Tikka T3x Tac A1 in a 6.5

Those are Seekins high (1" from base to mid scope ring). They are currently in a spare parts drawer if you are interested.

I've used Defenders from Vortex. If they fit the scope, they're super snug, very nice, hard to break. No experience with the others, except butler creek and whatever you'd call what came with my Burris XTR2.
The Vortex Defenders were the only ones that didn't slide off the scope like a silk sock when the temperature rose above 100 degrees. That's nice.

I used the BC's exclusively for years, because I'm cheap. And I ended up breaking a whole lot of them.
I recently purchased a Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30x56, which included a set of the Tenebraex caps for the scope. They are truly excellent caps - they fit really nicely, seem far more durable, and can be opened up flat against the scope. I intend to replace the BCs on all of my other scopes with Tenebraex.

Which one is thinner? I have very little room between the scope and barrel. Like an 1/8 or a little less. If they wouldn’t work with that I would just have to get higher rings.

Aadland make some phenomenal scope caps when they are in stock. Tenebraex are my favorite but it’s mainly because im used to them since I run mainly NF ATACR.

They are almost never in stock, you backorder them and they ship usually within a week. Must be made to order or something but they might as well say "in stock" they ship so fast.
