Rifle Scopes Best flip scope caps?

I like the simple rubber scope bikini. With the plasitic bulters you also lose about a quarter inch of eye relief. May or may not make a difference in getting clipped while shooting prone or uphill. Made a difference to me. I had the butlers but returned them. Also, when the rear is flipped up it gets in the way of the brim of my hat.

I like the Aadlands like most people who have used them I’d think. Tenebrex would be second choice. Vortex are decent and last are the Butler Creek which are better than nothing and are basically disposable.
The Aadlands make a bit of noise when they are opened and closed. Not gonna wait till a critter walks out and pop them open or whatever was getting ready to die will hone right in on the cap noise.

If you use your hand to shield/hold them, and open them slowly, instead of just flinging themopen, they're purty darn quiet...

Good point. That’s usually what I do. I was just putting it out there for consideration. Not. A deal breaker for sure. The Aadlands are the best. The noise is just me being nit picky. I have many sets on all sizes of scopes and love them.

So I’m having a weard experience with my purchase from Aadland. I put an order in on 3/17 for Vortex Razor GII 4.5-27X56 set of caps and nothing. Under status showed Invoiced, but tried emailing twice and called, Nothing. No reply. I’m just starting out, so I lean heavily on the advice of all the members here.

Thanks,

Tenebreax are very nice,BC if you got nothing else, but Aadlands are as good as it gets in lens caps. When you spend 3 or4 grand on a scope a 100 dollars is really not that much to protect the glass.

Thanks,
I ordered them and 3 weeks later they showed up.

Copied from their Aadland's website.... they are made to order. Smart for a company these days to not carry huge inventories. Oh yeah, thanks a lot.... you guys are really getting good at spending my money....lol
Note: Caps listed as "Backordered" may be ordered at any time. The sooner they are ordered the sooner they will be made and shipped. Most "Backordered" caps will ship within a couple weeks of being ordered.

im running a vortex gen 2 Razor and have the aadlands caps. If you want caps that fit tight and wont be jarred loose by anything short of dynamite, they are the ones for you. They wont scratch up your scope either. Great warranty. If they are not in stock, order anyway, you will have them pretty quick. Don't even think about comparing Butler Creek. just my opinion.

I'm sure aadlands is better construction. Just looks much bulkier then tenebraex . Tenebraex is more streamline and works very well and is very durable.

I have Aadland. They are very well built.
I have Tenebraex. They came with my Minox ZP5s, and they work.
Now I buy Vortex Defenders. No reason to spend more than $30/end since I discovered Vortex Defenders, plus you can insert a DOPE card in the eyepiece cap. Also, I can zip tie the eyepiece cap onto the scope tube to prevent the focus ring from rotating.

My opinion only, that and a buck'll get you a cup of coffee.

Ordered caps from Aadland Nov. 23rd and have heard nothing yet. Sent an email Monday and yesterday..........crickets. people said it usually takes 2 weeks and I am going on 3 weeks.

I ordered 1 set on Black Friday, and another set a couple days ago. Got email confirmation that both orders received. Now it’s just a waiting game. Figure Jon probably got slammed with orders. I will give it a few weeks. Jon has always come through. I wouldn’t get too concerned just yet.

Im in no hurry, so I plan to give it another 4-6 weeks before I try calling and emailing. Have you signed into your online account to check your order status or call the phone number at the bottom of your emailed order confirmation?

Hang in there - they will show up.

I have signed in and it says invoiced. Not a big deal I was just wondering because most guys said they had theirs in 2 weeks. Thx for the response.

TenaBrex or Addaland.

If you have mentioned "Butthole creek" then that's just crazy talk and a big NOOOOOOO!

i guess i'm in the minority but after using several different kinds of scope covers and caps, for hunting, i actually prefer the flexible sized butler creek w/ yellow release tab. they are quiet, fast, light weight, hold well and replaceable if need be. they need to be sized correctly.

in other applications i like full scope covers or more durable caps.

I haven't tried the Aadland, but Tenebraex really did me solid. I got a laser filter and ard for an Acog and got a set of tenebraex caps for it. But they sold me the wrong eyepiece cap. I sent 'em an email with a picture showing how it fit shitty and wouldn't close and asked what I needed to do, and they sent me a new cap and proper adapter for it. No cost. That was cool.

So when I needed 'em for the MRO's and this 6x48 Acog, I got Tenebraex. They're really nice, much better than Butler Creek, which I still have more than once set that needs to be replaced.

I may try Aadland on one scope to try it out when I get around to it, only heard good about them too.

Would like to find a cap that'll fit a USO spotter and a PVS30. Nobody seems to make one big enough. Or to know of another that might fit (thread in).

Update, had to deal with them again to get some more caps for USO and Leupold shit, funky hard to find to fit shit. Tenebraex made it happen. Got this 1-8x USO scope, they made an ARD and caps to fit it using this new machine they have that can make ANY cap for ANY scope and even do one off productions. I got the very first part made on that machine and you can't tell it apart from their bulk ARDs. Says they now make over 30,000 different products.

And they're a fuckton more solid than the Butler Creek, you can get parts to fix vs. replace the whole damn piece (some of these caps are expensive so it's nice to be able to replace JUST the cap or whatever). They fold all the way back and lock in that position when open. Some accommodate IR filters.

They are almost never in stock, you backorder them and they ship usually within a week. Must be made to order or something but they might as well say "in stock" they ship so fast.

Tenebraex would work if you oriented it so the hinge or finger tab wasn't in the way. I think I have one like this.

For really thin, cheap caps the ones Vortex makes ain't bad. They really ain't bad caps for what they are.

I really like the Vortex scope caps but not for the fitment Vortex ships with scopes. My Razor caps just slide off whereas they fit and function great on three different Bushnell scopes. On the Bushnell scopes they are almost too small so they do not move around. I put AADland on a AMG because the factory caps just popped off. The AADland caps are over done and hard to close, if I were to do it over again I'd probably just buy another set of BC's. The factory Tenebrex caps I have don't pop off but they do spin on the scope.
