I’m looking at needing 4 IR cube lights to go into the fog light recess of my truck (13 Raptor). I was going to start with those before buying an IR light bar. I see Rigid offers an IR series and Ultimate Nightvision sells another brand as well. Which wavelength offers the brightest output? I’ll be using these to navigate some of my coyote spots with dual PVS14s on my head, nothing high speed.

I’m afraid that the size of the IR recesses will hinder the wattage of the light....I mean, smaller the lens and IR leds the less bright they will be and won’t cast as far. I built a GOLight IR light so I can direct the beam any way I want. It’s remote control and works amazing. I think that, or magnet mount a few IR lights (or clamp) them to the roof. And it’s not expensive as long as you are a tinkerer and have a little ingenuity.

Brightest will be close to 800nm but also visible to the naked eye. 900nm and longer will be invisible to the human eye, but dimmer for a given wattage. On the plus side, you can just get more wattage in the 900+ range to compensate.

Brightness output is not determined by wavelength (If it was we would all use a single flashlight with a CR123 and in that wavelength).

I use the Rigids. More than enough to drive at highway speeds. Mount them high, putting then in the fog light location is not as great place.

Dang472, Night Goggles offers the full line Rigid Lighting. Made in the USA and broadcast at 940nm. I have first hand experience driving with both the cubes and the bar. Phenomenal pieces of gear and we highly reccomend them. If you get a moment, give Tom a call over at NGI, he has them on his hunting rig and he would be happy to walk you through all your questions about his setup. They are on sale right now as well. Thanks Vic, I called Tom and he was very helpful. I’m going with a pair of Rigid IR driving lights to start off. If I need more illumination I’ll just order a second set. I’m hoping to save the other locations for regular LED lighting.

Glad you got a chance to talk with Tom. He's a wealth of info. Let us know how the pair works out and pics of your rig are always welcome!
