Best laser rangrefinder

Re: Best laser rangrefinder

I agree with Chiller I have the swarovski you can get them here used for 750 to 800. I think there is one "NEW" for 850 in the optics section. The only 2 things I don't like about it is the circle reticle is to big should have a dot in the middle. 2 I had to make objective covers for it. For a company that sells a 100 hip flask you would think they would make a case and lens covers for it. Hitting small targets at 1000 would be hard. I know there are ways around that but just 2 small negatives for an otherwise excellent piece of eguipment.

I've never used the swaro but besides the vectronix which only Bill gates himself would buy, the swaro is considered the best. I didn't wanna spend 1000$ on a RF at the time and i went through 2 and then finally i have a zeiss PRF. I get ranges out to 1400yds. It will range anything under a 1000yds very effectively and fast without being too still. Past 1000yds you have to be a little more steady, but it does its job well. The shape of both the Swaro and Zeiss are much more favorable to me as a "small rangefinder" Than the rest of the lineup, such as the leica, nikon, bushnell, etc. The swaro and zeiss can be held with both hands like a binocular which i find more steady than trying to hold with one hand.

Boy you are just asking for more. I'm sure the guys will be along shortly to dish it out.

Re: Best laser rangrefinder

Im sure they will all show up to bash the shit out of me shortly. It's pretty damn funny. All I care about is that I be as selfish as possible and get at much info as I can for the gear that I need to serve my purpose.

So, I am one selfish ass and and am interested in self preservation. Thats not bragging or being cocky, I just want the best gear that I can afford....I dont shoot all day long at 1000y. Most of my shots are between 75 and 400 most of the time. But, I stil have to hit the long distance targets and as everyone knows who has ever shot different calibers, .308 gets squirrely at that range. Off at only 1/2 MOA at 1000y and you are shooting dirt as you all know so well. Thanks for all of your help. My crazy dysfunctional ass is going to try to finish sighting in my gear and then itll be challenege time.

Re: Best laser rangrefinder

I recently struggled with selecting a range finder. I borrowed a Bushnell Elite 1500 and it would not range past 575 yards.

I started looking into the Vectronix PLRF10 as feedback was universal praise (except for approximately $3700 price tag). But decided to try the Swarovski LRF from Cabelas as they have a 60 day return policy on range finders. I figured that if it met my needs it would save me mucho bucks. Fortunately, it works great out to 1100 yards on non-reflective targets (grass/trees) in a variety of lighting conditions. It will range longer distances fairly easy to 1300 yards and beyond that it is a crap shoot.

It also provides very good image quality. My friend and I were shooting at 1007 yards (3 readings-1007,1008,1007) this last weekend and I was able to call his first several shots on the fresh white steel target. (I called it then he confirmed with his NF 5.5-22 scope.) He was amazed that I was able to do that with an 8 power lrf. It became difficult after several black splashes were on the target but it was still pretty cool. Try that with a Bushnell or Nikon LRF!

If possible, try before you buy or purchase from someone with a good return policy. If you have to range quickly and reliably past 1100 yards get a Vectronix PLRF 10 for $$$$.

Re: Best laser rangrefinder

Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC - cant beat it in the "bang for your buck" category and very accurate. Recently ranged a water tower at 1440 yards. Have never had any issue with it whatsoever.

Re: Best laser rangrefinder

Thanks for the info. If I had more cash I would go with the Vectronix, but I am going to to with the Bushnell instead. Everyone seems to have great things to say about it. Appreciate the info.

Good shooting.

Only if your target is a playing card...1/2 MOA at 1000 is 5 inches. Still sufficient for a Zombie chest shot...oh, i forgot...headshots only for Zombies. I guess if I was "In the Know" I'd have remembered that.
