Best M14 Scope mount

Re: Best M14 Scope mount

I wouldn't know if it is considered "better" than the ARMS by some, but Sadlak Industries makes a nice 3-point (contact) scope mount. They also incorporate a U-shaped channel down the rail which can permit the use of irons sights with the scope mounted. The ability to use the irons in tandem would depend on the size of the scope's objective as well as the ring height.

It's a solid mount in my experience.

Re: Best M14 Scope mount

I have the SA Gen 3 on mine and the ARMS 18 on my wife's. I highly suggesting getting something other than the Gen 3, it works but I would go a different route. I'm actually thinking about upgrading to the Sadlak the next time one of the Gen 3 screws comes loose. The 18 is nice but too low in my opinion, we have to crank her rear peep all the way down for a Leupold MK4 MRT in medium rings to fit. Smith and Sadlak are both solid ways to go.

Re: Best M14 Scope mount

The sadlak mount is in a completely different class than that hunk of shit #18. Mike custom cut my mount to fit perfectly with my receiver, and it really fits great. Built tough as nails too.

I have the old style ARMS #18 mount that is cut out in the middle, and it is LOW. Without the scope you almost don't notice it is there, which is nice since that is the way I shoot my M1A usually. Get high rings and your scope will have the clearance you want.
Not saying ARMS is better, just lower profile.

SEI and Sadlak mounts are both excellent. What scope do you plan to use? What do you plan to the us ethe rifle for?

There are many very good options.

Re: Best M14 Scope mount

I've got the ARMS #18 mount on my M1A and the only issue I have is that occasionally I get a spent casing stuck between the mount and the charging handle. I'm going to try and change the spring in the extractor and see if that fixes the problem. other than that I couldn't be happier.

Re: Best M14 Scope mount

Sadlak or the SEI.

The old school Brookfield Precision Tool mounts were the best you could get for a while. But they are no longer made and expensive when you can just buy the latest tech in the Sadlak or the Smith.
