I have a KRG Bravo with a Remington 700 SA in 6 Creedmoor. I’m having an issue with ammo feeding using Magpul AICS mags.

Has anyone else had this issue? What magazine would you suggest?

    Thanks!

it seems as if the bullets are sitting too low and get stuck pushing into the feed ramp. It usually happens on every other magazine or so. Both are 5rd mags. I’m not an expert by any means 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Does the mag drop free or is the fore end putting some pressure on it? When I am installing the foreend I will put the mag in and push forward on it and then tighten the fore end screws. If you tighten it up with the mag pinched in tight it could be pinched at the wring angle. Giving it a bit of room to settle in naturally and drop free could help.
This screen shot from a SAC video shows what Im meaning by pushing forward on the bottom while tightening (while one handed no less)

If you push forward on the bottom of the mag so that it tips the bullet tip up a bit more, does that help?

Oh shoot, I didnt catch that detail. If its pushing up and hanging under the feed ramp lip then the binder plates are an answer (but the magpul shouldnt have that issue). The thick plastic should be enough. But if thats your problem then thats your problem, hard to argue the physical facts.

    "BINDER PLATE DETAILS
    • The magazines with front binder plates are compatible with all rifles equipped with AICS-pattern bottom metal or chassis systems. The binder plate holds the cartridges back from the front of the magazines and guides them past the bottom of the feed ramp. The maximum cartridge overall length (COAL) that will fit in this magazine is 2.870”.
    • The magazines without front binder plates allow a maximum cartridge overall length of 2.960”. These are compatible with all AICS-pattern bottom metal and chassis systems, but most common actions such as Remington 700 and Savage 10/11 will require modifications to the receiver (i.e. notching out the bottom of the feed ramp) to prevent the bullet tips from catching on the bottom of the feed ramp (see photo below)."

Or you could notch your feed ramp to allow them to deed up freely.

So are they snagging under the feed ramp while feeding up into the action?
Or are they jamming up on the feed ramp when they are already up inside of the action and being fed into the chamber?

Jamming up, I’d take a picture, but I need to do some reloading. I’m out of ammo 🤦‍♂️. I’ll try adjusting the screws and see if that takes care of the issue. They definitely don’t go below the feed ramp.

Do that and let us know. The fore end has some give in the screws so you can slide it forward or backwards to fine tune the mag fit. Pushed forward lets it hand free and rattle around, pushed back against the mag keeps it tight and firm. I tend to go looser and deal witha slight rattle than have to grab a pinched mag to pull it out.

If none of that works you may have to take the action out and actually adjust the "bottom metal" trigger guard part which has a similar sort of give set up dependng on how you tighten it up but Ive never had to mess with that, Ive only messed with it in taking everything apart and fiddling, not actually diagnosing an issue with it so Im not so familiar with how it effects things.

KRG says on their website that the Magpul polymer stocks will not their Tikka chassis. Not sure why but There could be a similar issue with the 700 that is hit or miss? Maybe try any metal alternatives?
