I plan to do some coyote hunting in New Hampshire and I'd like to pick up some a camo shirt and pants (I understand the more help you can get with coyotes the better). I won't go enough to justify spending big bucks on the fancy clothing and patterns aimed at hunters, so I'll probably just end up with some BDU or ACUs from an army navy store.

So, that said, what camo would be best for the woods of the Northeast? The ACU seems a little to light - I think it would do better in a more arid area. The tiger stripes actually seem pretty good. Any thoughts? Or any hunter-specific brands/patterns that won't break the bank?

any snow gonna be around when you're out there. the old school Urban camo works great for tree/snow conditions. i'm a personal fan of Multicam. it has a nasty habbit of blending well into almost any setting.

I picked up a surplus German winter poncho. It's white with some grass/tree marks on it. I'm looking for something for the warmer months.

TT, I was just having some SERIOUS deja vu until i noticed that I commented on the SAME post over at PredatorMasters as well. Haha, small world.
regardless. I like desert marpat or desert digital. it is light enough to allow shadows to break up naturally.
darker colors like the MARPAT and Woodland just end up looking like big black blobs at a distance but if it is summer and you have lots of green around...it could work nicely.
i'm afraid i cant speak more about it without seeing what the area looks like and stuff.
Good luck gettin some more help

Hunting camo is intended to fool a different set of eyes than military camo. I suggest RealTree. 'S what I use...

Go to Kohls and buy the Levi's stuff on clearance.

I'm not sure what the environment there is like, but I don't go for high dollar camo myself. Desert marpat combined with my British desert smock and softie, if it is cold, works well for me. They break up patterns nicely, and blend well into our dead prarie grass in the winter time.

Marpat and multicam work well in PA.
No flies on the older wooland either, especially if you're buying the used, faded stuff.

It is said, K-9's cannot distinguish between red, orange, yellow and green. Although they can see various shades of blue and can differentiate between closely related shades of gray that aren't distinguishable to humans (think twice before gray urban).

Humans are better at depth perception, color perception and seeing minute details of an object.

K-9's are better at seeing in dim light, responding to an image rapidly and detecting the slightest motion. They also have better peripheral vision. (That is the Key when hunting, being still, not camo). A pattern might be slightly useful regarding their depth perception (not much though), but it requires you to be very still) (Hince the orange hunting pattern used by some).

Myself, I don't spent lots of money on camo. I hunt almost everything except turkey and duck with a Carlhardt solid light brown or green jacket here in the Carolinas, and I have no problems.

some of the dannish camo is quite nice and ww2 german reverse smocks are nice also. I use multi cam here in alaska cad pat I like the brit stuff as far as that goes.

Being down in MD with a range of different terrains, I tend to use woodland camo BDU's while inside heavily wooded area and while hunting the farm fields I usually switch to tans or khakis (especially when the farm fields are dry and yellow).

Me neither, scruffy old jacket, assorted cans of paint, scoosh and leave to dry (optional)

If your artistic skills are as bad as mine you can't help come up with a random pattern.

Alternatively - its all bollocks, just use cover properly

I am right next door in Maine and do some yote hunting as well. We have quite alot of evergreens up here and "Conifer" works pretty good for us here. Definately need the darker greens mixed in to break up outlines. However, "Shadow grass" works real good in the fields we have. Not sure the areas you will be in but that is my two cents. Good luck.
