Every place I check online is out of stock/backorder. Does anyone know of a place to buy a Forster press? I broke my Lee tonight and I would really like to get something this week so I can shoot next weekend!

Out of stock....seems to be a trend...

Well, if you have to backorder - cabelas has a $20 off coupon on their homepage. That'd get you the press for $220

I wish I had one near me, the closest is Hamburg, PA @ 275 miles. :-(

I can't find one in stock on the web anywhere. Midway does not expect them until March and I think Cabelas was expecting them late January. I hate to have to settle for something less, but I need a press of some sort this week. I do have a 550B, but I don't have the shell plate for 6.8 which is what I was using my Lee for. The handle broke completely off the Lee.

Yep Cabela's. Just ordered mine last week. Did alot of research and ended up getting it on sale and when a $30 off coupon was added, it cost right at $200. It is on back order, but is due in this week.

Re: Best place to buy a Forster Co-Ax?

A year ago I got an old Bonanza co-ax for $150 shipped off a gun forum.

I had made a number of modifications to my Forster co-ax, and it was fun to look at the differences between the 1967 C.E.Purdie United States Patent US3345903, the Bonanza co-ax, and the Forster co-ax.

I even called Forster directly and they don't have any available either. They said it would be a couple of weeks before they ship to their resellers such as Grafs, Midway, and Cabelas. Looks like I'm S.O.L.

I bought my second one a couple of weeks ago on the sale/coupon deal.
The Co-ax is definitely worth the wait. If you get in a hurry and buy something else now you'll probably regret it later.

I called Lee and they can get me the parts to fix my current press for $10 and hopefully have them to me by Friday. That will take the urgent need away and then I can wait and get a Forster when they become available. I still can't believe the handle broke off in my hand....damn thing was attached with cast aluminum.

Re: Best place to buy a Forster Co-Ax?

Great!
Right now is a good time to buy, with all the Christmas sales/incentives going on.
I think you'll be glad you waited when you start cranking on the new Co-ax.

Re: Best place to buy a Forster Co-Ax?

Thanks for the heads up on Gun Stop having Forster presses. I must have not been the only one that jumped on that cause when I talked to them today at about 2pm they only had 2 left. Thanks again

Re: Best place to buy a Forster Co-Ax?

You will be spoiled by your Co-Ax. Awesome amount of leverage, and the shell holder rocks. My fondest wish is a Co-Ax upsized for a .50BMG (Big-Ax?). Just make sure you have compatible die rings for any non-Forster dies.

Re: Best place to buy a Forster Co-Ax?

Resurrecting an old thread...still tired of messing with the Lee press. They sent me replacement parts since this thread and then those parts broke as well. Back to the original purpose of this thread...everyone was out of stock...EXCEPT Gunstop! I just got off the phone, new co-ax is on the way to me Monday. I can't wait!

Thanks to Headgear for suggesting them several months ago!

The toggle that holds the handle to the ram. I had the older Challenger and the toggle was cast aluminum. It lasted for about 4 years with very infrequent use...think less than 500 rounds. One day while resizing some SSA 6.8 brass it snapped and the handle came off in my hand.

I called Lee and they sent me replacement parts for $10 to upgrade to the new steel toggles. I installed those and one of those broke while using a Lee FCD to put a light crimp on those same 6.8 rounds.

They sent me another toggle for free and so far it has worked but I'm just ready to move up now. Their customer service has been good but I just can't rely on this press anymore. It will be relegated to de-priming duty once the Co-Ax gets here.
