My 20" 5R shoots best with 45gr under a 175SMK, and 46 under a 175, but is the 11.25"twist.
This is with a called flyer.

Awesome love to see more with OAL maybe?

Gonna load some 168g hornady match w/ 1x fired brass, varget powder , cci 200 large rifle and may switch around to br-2 primers by cci, going to start around 41 and work upwards of 45+ g

If you can get a chrongraph from a buddy that will help out alot. Also if you go to a range that has a loading bench you can work up a load that day and save time and money.Be sure to bring all your loading gear to make it happen on a calm day.if you cant do that then start your load at 41gr and increase by .2 gr up to 45gr+.When the gun starts grouping make a note and then start a load development staying in 1.gr. Shooting a 5 shoot group.I would by lapua brass it is very good stuff.Be sure to buy varget in 1lb and 8 bl keg in the same lot numbers, because different lot numbers will burn at differnt rates and you will have to find your load all over again.8lb is the way to go if money is not an issue.

I have had good luck with the 168amax using 8208xbr, Varget, and RE15.
I get 2625fps with 42.9 xbr / BHA brass / WLR primer / 2.81" col.

With the rem's long throat I have tried jammed, all the way back, I load all at 2.810". On a factory tube I have found no use for "turning necks, fancy micro adj bullet seating dies etc" I use a Lee, with Lee dies, RCBS 10-10 scale. That all changes with a custom tube for me, That's when I sort, brass, turn necks, etc. You should have no trouble getting a .5" load with that gun.

Re: best results with 20" 1/10 twist 700 aac-sd ?

I shot my AAC SD today with factory FGMM 168's and after new stock and trigger I ended up with a dime sized hole for five rounds at a hundred yards. I did not put the calipers on it due to time issues, taking it deer hunting in the morning and wanted to check zero after new stock and Jewell.

Re: best results with 20" 1/10 twist 700 aac-sd ?

New Jewell trigger? Wanted more adjustment range or didn't like the factory brake? I tuned my trigger to 3.5 said that's what it left factory with but it repeatedly tested. 4 3/4lbs I'll go buy a 8lbr of varget thanx for heads up grabbed some br2 primers nd they only had the pacesetter dies and I really wanted deluxe so I could use form fired brass instead of. Full length resizing die

Thanks guys this is all good info .look forward to having many more posts and will cross reference ... like that no one is too uptight to offer advice / their experience some of reloading forums I've been on its easy to make enemies just by asking questions so I'm thankful everyone's level headed and willing to do what they can..

168 A-Match hornady bullets
42gr of varget
Federal 1x fired

My reloading detail for Remington 700 XCR Compact Tactical 20"

175 SMK
43.5 of Varget
Lapua Brass
CCI BR-2
COAL 2.810"

Re: best results with 20" 1/10 twist 700 aac-sd ?

168gn smk
40g benchmark (was at a sweet spot for ocw on my 20"aac)
winchester brass
cci #200 lr primers

the smk's arent touchy on ogive, so i load to saami max. couldnt get enough difference in groups with touching/not touching lands to make it worth loading on ogive in my rifle.

fwiw the big chubby brake from rattworx is the bomb on this rifle. barely moves.
