Rifle Scopes Best scope for under $1,500

Hi guys,

Looking to buy a scope for a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt action and would like to keep it under $1,500. I would like to have variable power, FFP, Mil, and a magnification of at least 18x. I really care about getting quality glass and good tracking more than features such as illumination. I have been looking hard at SWFA after reading on here. As a new guy I have done a good bit of research on here, but it’s hard to keep up with all the models and companies. Thoughts, comments? Thanks

The SWFA 5-20x50 HD is built like a tank, if you are looking for a no frill solid FFP mil dot scope with zero stops it is an excellent choice. I have one on my 6.5 HMR and love it, have shot it well past 1000 with great results. Has been on 3 guns now.

That said Vortex makes excellent stuff too with great features but I am not an expert on them so cant say much more. I have heard some good things about the new 5-25 strike eagle FFP scope and it is well under your budget.

Take your $1500. Throw it at literally any scope in that price range and you will be fine.

You need to buy @Basher scope. It is a second gen Tango6 and he has it listed for a great price.

These scopes are actually really good glass wise for the money. I have one myself and it is one of my favorites.

Tract Toric or Athlon Cronus can be had for that price...especially if you qualify for a Leo/Mil discount.

Agreed on this....the Sig Tango 4 and or 6 are solid scopes.

I know you’re looking for 18x, but the Nightforce SHV 14x FFP is a great scope in that price range.

Tons of great options at this price point. If weight isn’t an issue, you can get a Gen2 Razor for about $100 more.

You can get a 3.6-18 Mk5 without illumination for less than $1500. I think camera land has Bushnell DMRII for less than $1k. I haven’t used the XTR3, but you can get those for less than $1,500.

EuroOptic has pretty good sales on “demo” scopes. Tons of other great options that others have mentioned.

The 5-20 SWFA is an OK scope IMO, but it’s dated. It would be really low on my list, and probably only if I stumbled on fire sale on a used one.

For clarity and light gathering Swarovski, Leica or Zeiss. For ruggedness and precision Nightforce. Nightforce optics are not great and Swarovski, Leica, zeiss turrets system and tracking (clicks are mushy)are not great. Maybe look at a Leupold mk4 or vx6 . Of course this is just my opinion.
