Best strap-on raised comb cheek piece

Re: Best strap-on raised comb cheek piece

1 " is ALOT!! Doing so with any method other than an adjustable is tricky becasue it will have to be removable, otherwise you will not be able to get a cleaning rod down the barrel. The 100mph tape solutions will not work for you.

That said, I came up with a solution that I like, which I have used with both an Eagle and a Tac Ops stock pack. As long as the pack has loop on the inside it'll work.

There are a bunch of ways to raise the comb height on a McMillan HTG. Here is another using 2" adhesive back hook & loop and Eagle stock pack to do it. This is a really good method for those using a butt spacer set up as the hook on the cheek obviates the need to use the rear strap around the butt.

Thanks to Steve at Triad for planting the seed of using the hook and loop!.

Hey great photos. Attaching the first piece to the stock is a great way to keep it all nice and secure.

Here is the Eagle stock pack that he started with:

i had the same problem on a new remington 700 SS 5r, tried the ducktape and foam route it worked ok but if real thick if gives a little. but found another route built up custom check rest with bondo and fiberglass filler. so far works perfect.

Kydex Cheekwelder snaps on and off without straps and without scratching or marring your finish.

This is a "High," Dan stocks mediums and extra-high (for 50-56mm bell scopes) as well.

My point was only that more than 1" will be hard to accomplish with a strap-on stock cheek rest pad with good stability. Look like cheekwelder is a good option. Wish I know about this before.
