best tactical gun related website design??

Re: best tactical gun related website design??

Well, your best bet being that you're new is to just go with a host that has a generic template that you like.

You'll need your LLC/merc. acct./inventory/etc. first though. The website is one of the last things and probably the easiest thing to worry about.

A gun parts website have a steep entry point as you're going to be competing with thousands of others and your only chance at survival is to undercut the big boys which you wont have the buying power to do.

Here's a hint to get you going--> think 'niche'. Triad Tactical is an example.

Re: best tactical gun related website design??

thanks for the advice, I have a few products that are unique to the industry, they are ones that I will be making. I plan to offer some more as a dealer for certain items but ideally I am selling stuff that are my designs and I am not just acting as a dealer. so I am good on that stuff. but web design is important to me and important that I work with the right people. I check this out by seeing other sites I like. but thats just me if you have seen a site that is related to our interests around here and you think it rocks post a link so I can check it out.

One aspect you need to keep in mind about a web site is the security and industry requirements. If you are going to accept CC on your site you will have certian requirements such as PCI/DSS and others, these are expenses you will have to incure to do business with major credit card companies. Keep in mind when you go with a boxed site, one that comes with everything such as a mechant account and shopping basket, many of the industry requirements are placed on the vender who is hosting the turn key web site. Also consider security for your site, if you are going to use any type of web app or propriatorial code, you will be responsible for securing that. Many companies will for a price conduct test, or Penetration test, and give you a report on what risks you are vulnerable too. If you dont protect your clients data and your own data, you wont be in business long.

Well, I've only seen basic template sites so far as gun sites are concerned but if you're really into it, you're going to have to get a copy of Dreamweaver (the one I use) or the like otherwise you're stuck with templates from whatever host you pick. Templates aren't bad and some can be pretty cool. On that same note however, I as a consumer (I'm also a producer though) am turned off by websites that over the top or flashy so I think there's a fine line between "cool" and "too-cool" which some CSS stuff can be. Triads sight is pretty basic but it's set up nicely and easy to navigate. That's the format/template I would use if I were you, any more flashy than that, is too much and opens you up to a lot of hacks.
