I’ve searched and looked on here so I tried to do due diligence if this is posted a lot. I am currently building my house, in the basement I’m doing a vault room with concrete and metal cased concrete for the roof. The room is 12.5 x 10.5. The entrance will be in a hall way the room in the other side will be a movie theatre type. What re cheap effective ways to hide the vault door?

Depends; what’s in the vault? Care to show pictures?

and a dummy-safe, somewhere else, that you acci-purposely forgot that you left open.

crap jewelry in there, maybe a Zimbabwe'an bazillion dollar bill or two... print out some 'Bearer Bonds'....

Hypothetically speaking, of course. Some things that look like 'pot gummies' that aren't.....

Please give us grid coordinates to your new home so we can come evaluate….
Kidding, but seriously, as the old saying goes “loose lips sink ships.” I’ve helped build a few in custom homes we’ve built, and it really isn’t hard to come up with an idea, but I’ve not seen a cheap way as you’ve suggested.

Putting the door to the false room in the back of a closet makes it tougher to see. Leaving some power tools and other heavy pawnable garbage out helps. Most thieves steal an armload of tools or treasure and flee.

Having a bowl of change and petty cash by the door is a nice way to detect intruders. They will pocket that instantly.

I couple of spare tarps, Gorilla tape, kitty litter, peroxide and bleach are handy for clean up. Burglars can be messy.
