STICKS and stones may break his bones, but charges will not hurt him – base jumper Jeb Corliss will not be charged for jumping off Table Mountain illegally because “his injuries are enough of a deterrent to other jumpers”.

This is according to Table Mountain National Park spokeswoman Merle Collins.

“Jeb is not absolved of responsibility, but we hope that his injuries are enough to show people that it is not safe to jump,” Collins said.

Table Mountain National Park will still fine Corliss R1 500 and it is considering a fine against the South African film company commissioned to document his flight for US network HBO....

There are no "rules" that have any effect on guys like this.The trillof illegality is part of the rush. Base jumping off buildings and terrain illegally is a badge of honor for for them. Every time a new skyscraper gets put upthere are guys scheming on how to tresspass and be the first to jump it,and then have vehicleswaiting to make their getaways in.
Corliss hitting something like in South Africa was inevitable. and his base jump was illegal. He's lucky he got off with a couple shattered legs.Everybody who watches his videos knew it, or worse,was comming.
The South Africans just don't want to be responsible for his medical care.
Encouraging this kind of illegal, irresponsible thrill seeking behavior shouldn't be encouraged.

I grew up around Jebbie Corliss in Santa Fe during my high school years. He was a couple years younger than me but lived with my best friend(Jeb's Cousin). Jeb was a psychotic mother fucker as a teen.

He didnt go to school like the rest of us and spent a significant amount of time in a black trenchcoat with slayer or megadeth jamming on his walkman. He was a cutter before cutting was cool. Trench coat before columbine. Very troubled dude but it appears he has found a way to deal with his reality. He turned out much better than I imagined.

In a video documentary called "Fearless: The Jeb Corliss Story" he mentions that between the aged of 7 and 19 he was so isolated and tormented by his peers, like you, he was overtly suicidal and took up base jumping because he would either die, which he was OK with, or do something never done before by his peers. So I guess he has your bullying to thank for his current reputation of having the biggest balls in the US.
