Heck, all they really want is European style of control and if you haven't been there lately the amount of control they have in scary. In Germany they have the ordnungsamt, which means regulatory office of compliance. They are like the morality police and will pull cars off the road for unsightly dents or if the car is too dirty for the standards set by the ordnungsamt. You cannot legally call someone stupid, at least not in Germany, without risk of fine or jail. If you say something that someone else finds offensive you can be punished.
