As some people know TAB GEAR is something that I started over six years ago. I spent four years camping out in the dining room of my house in a 9x10 foot space designing and making our products.

About two years ago, when my son moved out of the house, we moved TAB GEAR into the extra bed room and expanded to about an 11x11 room. I spend most of my time here now.

In the last six years I've also worked one and sometimes two other full time jobs to pay my house hold bills, and have put in an estimated minimum 100 hours a week these last six years.

As our product line has grown and demand has risen for our products I've hired outside contract sewers around the U.S.A. to make some of our products. We still use only American labor. I've also hired my son and daughter to work for TAB GEAR.

Recently, we got to the point where I was needing more and more time to devote to TAB GEAR as far as regular production and product development and the regular day to day communications that a business just has to do to keep the doors open.

So...my wife and I sat down and ran the numbers, at the end of that business meeting we decided that it was time to take a chance and jump off the cliff into the self employeed business world full time with TAB GEAR.

That's what we've done. I quit my day job, my wife quit her day job to sew and handle the paper work, and my son and daughter also are full time TAB GEAR sewers now.

It's taken a long time and hard work to get here and I've sacrificed and missed out on a lot with the family the last six years but it's all been worth it since we're all working together now and loving life.

It's been through the continued encouragement of my family and friends and support from our many customers that we are where we are today. I've met so many people and made so many friends around the world due to TAB GEAR, it would take pages to list them all, so I'll just say THANK YOU!! to everyone that has made us what we are today and a special THANKS!! to Jacob and Lisa Bynum of Rifles Only!

Moving ahead we have many plans for TAB GEAR and look forward to increasing our product line in the near future so stay tuned to the website and our Facebook page too.

Congratulations man. Good to hear when sacrifices pay off.

I have the Borka kit with your TAB gear pouch and it is tough, no doubt you have a new customer here. Thanks for keeping it American

If you've gotten here working two other full time jobs, Then the sky's the limit with you devoting all your time to TAB !

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Congrats, as Scooty Puff said, I hope you are wildly successful. I know I love all my tab gear that I currently have. I am looking forward to more great products in the future.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

You are making the "American Way of Life" work for you! That's awesome and something to be commended for. Good luck with your AMERICAN company. I am new to the art of precision long range rifle and WILL buy your products just because I want to see you succeed. Best of luck! Thanks for posting your story so that all of us can see what is possible if we just challenge ourselves.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Tony,

This is fantastic news. Just the thing I needed to hear as I am getting ready to start a new business. Ordering gear from you has always been a great experience. Best of luck to all of you.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

That is awesome Tony. I think you have made a very wise decision. Your product has proven itself time and time again. I have said it before and I will say it again, you are one of the nicest guys I have ever met and I wish you and your family all the best. If there is ever anything that we can help with please do not hesitate to ask.

When work doesn't feel like work then what do we call it?

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

I have heard nothing but good stuff about TAB and because you are American owned and operated I will be purchasing my sling from you for
My first custom rifle. Good job.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

All the very best for the future, but as most of the time, if you make a good product and put your heart into it.....here is the prove .......you will succeed.
Again all the very best, you have done the right step.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Congratulations, it is a wonderful feeling to be doing what you want, being your own boss, and owning your own business. As a private small business owner myself, I can relate to you. My emotions were mixed with fear, uncertainty, pride and joy...but most importantly for me is the knowledge and satisfaction of self-determination.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Out-freaking-standing, Tony!! Congrats to you (and your family) on taking the plunge!!

I know it is a HUGE decision and one not entered into lightly, but I think you will be glad you did it in the long run. Based on nothing more than the people behind the scences and the quality of your gear, I am betting this will be enormously successful for you!

Congrats again and God bless!

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Congrats! Its so great to hear a success story in these hard economic times. I just made my first purchase last week and will be ordering a SAS as well. Keep it up. Wishing you much success.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

TAB GEAR, everything you need and nothing you don't, Made in the USA, Owned, Operated, and Employs nothing but Americans, when there is Stock aviable to buy I will own some, Congrats to the whole family!

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Awesome news Tony, congratulations to you and your whole family.

With the buyout of Eagle Industries by Alliant, and word on the street their product line will be scaled back to support the overseas made products of Blackhawk, your timing may be spectacular for the US made product segment. Rock on brother.

If you need a rocket scientist to bounce ideas off of, I'm just down the street.

Re: Big changes at TAB GEAR

Congrats to the entire Burkes household! Thank you for teaching me HOW to use my TAB sling at the SHOT show. That little impromptu class has made a world of difference in my shooting. I'll be ordering another one with flush cups as soon as my new stock gets here.
