"Big Gulp" feed ramps on small block barrel extensions

V Seven has wisely been using these for several years on their .300 Blackout barrels. Here's an example, showing a V Seven .300 BLK barrel on the left and a "normal" Craddock Precision .223 Wylde Bartlein on the right:

I was surprised to receive in recent days both a Proof CF 6 ARC barrel and a Craddock 22 ARC Bartlein barrel with even more generous feed ramps. Shown below is the Proof CF barrel in the left and the Craddock 22 ARC Bartlein on the right, with the "normal" Craddock .223 Wylde Bartlein in the middle for comparison:

As usual, the really smart people in the industry (i.e., Craddock and Proof) know more about what's going on than the rest of us.

Huh, that looks familiar. See old pic from one of my wildcat AR builds below; that one needed to feed big flat nosed bullets so got some very similar feed ramps.

IME the oversized feed ramps are completely unnecessary on something like 5.56 or 6mm ARC, and they do give up some strength in that bottom center lug, but can open up some options for feeding large hollow points in 300 Blk subs. Other than that I've only needed them for larger calibers like the .358 H-AR below. Interesting to see them in commercial use now, and for those chamberings. I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning behind this.
