Biggest most effective round I can put in any AR?

Re: Biggest most effective round I can put in any AR?

Cobb MCR can...but I haven't heard much about them. What's wrong with an AR in 308? It should get the job done easily with Quality bullets.

I'm just not sure I can hunt water buffalo and the like with a .308, you know?

I'm looking for a gun I can throw around and not worry if it gets dinged. I have a pretty AR-15 that I baby too much as is.

I'd also like something I can shoot more than 200 yards, so Beowulf's kind of out of the question.

+1

I thought I saw something like that, I think it was in 300 WSM though. Might just be a WSM chamber that someone made from a 300 SAUM baseline.

Buy the .308 learn to shoot good and elk is not a problem.
Look at the energy of the .308 compared to your 7mm rem mag.
Its always a matter of shot placement rather than who has the bigger gun.

Bushmaster bought Cobb and they will be releasing rifles in 30-06 and 338 Lapua.

Re: Biggest most effective round I can put in any AR?

You can get a 338 Federal upper if your looking for a larger diameter bullet but still in a factoty gun.

Otherwise these guy's (Accuracy Systems) offer rifles in 35 Rem, 358 WIN, 300 WSM, 300SAUM, and 325WSM for rounds with more power than a 308.

I think they also make a 450 Marlin which for close range if you can handle it.

I would rater get a .458 SOCOM upper myself for a AR-15. I have a DPMS LR-308 and it's a little on the clumsy and heavy side at least for walking.

Its been a few years but seems to me a guy named sam had one in 7wsm. I can check the facts with my buddy lucas. I would do an ar10 in 7wsm if I could, second choice would be 260.
