budget is in the $1000 range

I have the razor 10x42’s and the sig kilo 3000’s. Image quality is better in the razors but the kilos have the lrf that pairs with my kestrel. For scouting or casual use I grab the razor, if a gun is involved the sig will go with me.

I got a 553 from Doug and the glass is amazing. A lot of capability in a tiny package. We mostly use it for digiscoping and have been very happy with it. I'd intended to get lrf binos but ended up going separate with 10x slc and a leica 2800 lrf. The leica has nice glass and is handy as a monocular if you're traveling light.

Have about $2200 allocated for bino and LRF so those are probs a little out of budget. They do look nice though.
If you can wait till there’s a demo sale

I had Zeiss before that were awesome too.

I have 2 sets of Maven B2 11x45s. I sold one set of my Swaros after buying the first set of Mavens.

Here is something from someone who wears glasses. -- It matters how "easy" the binos or how "forgiving" the eye box is especially if you are an eyeglass wearer. Sans the Geovids, the integrated binos really seem to be a step-down and NOT something I want to trade off as the seconds of ranging to the many hours of glassing is great.

Much like my ZCO, the larger ocular of some of the newer bino designs such as the Maven B2s and the Swaro 10x 42 NL Pure really make the images appear more like a large screen TV, wider edge to edge, more like our emersed in the image. You're not getting a wider FOV or more magnification, but it almost appears that is the case compared to some of the other binos. This is really apparent when you use glasses, and promotes a more natural glassing experience. If you pick up the newly designed Swaro NL Pures, you'll love looking through them; if you walk over and pick up the Maven B2 11x45, you'll love them. You need to go back and forth to find that the $3600 binos seem to have a more forgiving focus and edge out the $1100 B2s ever so slightly, mostly with the very, very out edge of the image. If money was zero issues, the NLs would be my choice, but not by much. I do not think there is a thing I can pick out with the NLs that I can just as easily id with the B2. If I am truly in a situation that I need to glass far, I am using the Swaro ATX and one of the objectives situation dependant. I still have a set of Swaros, but the B2s are in my hunt harness.

BTW - as your thinking also about a PLRF, you might want to see a tips and tricks thread I did for our UKD Team match. It is a Sticky in the Advanced Marksmanship Forum: https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...-for-ukd-team-field-match-or-hunting.6980614/

The tip on using a PLRF is the 4th or 5th link down.

You'll see that not all beams are what people think they are; how to map what you have. A far return is just that; you want the correct return, especially in a hunting situation, lazing through loops in vegetation or skylined targets. We set up a few in the match to test teams' awareness of the shortcomings and knowledge of how to work around them; it defeats a lot of the teams. In fairness, we only set a few targets like that or people would not have as much fun.

Below is an image from that thread.

I have the Steiner HX series and "had" the 10-42 Razors. The German made Steiners blow the Razors out of the water in glass quality. And its my understanding the Razor binos are now made in China as well. Mine came from Japan, but I heard they've changed it.

I also just picked up a pair of M Series Steiners with the LRF. And they are fantastic glass. They are a little pricier than what you're looking at, they are 10x50 with an LRF and mil reticle. Same light transmission and twilight factor rating as the 10x50 Swarovski EL.

@Envo - I was in the same boat & the 2 items below came in right at the 1k budget. Already had a good RF & really wanted as close to alpha glass bino's as possible for 1k.

@gr8fuldoug - Just ordered the Kowa Genesis 10.5x44 from you. Tagging you for the mount solution below. I know you sell a lot of these Kowa's so you probably get asked often.

I doubt anything can compete with the Genesis glass at this price.

Must have had more then 1 open box. Still showing open box in stock.

The only down side to the 10.5 Genesis is it doesn't have the 1/4" x 20 thread for an outdoors-man type mount.

Problem solved thanks to RRS & I know it fits because they actually use this Kowa 10.5 x 44 in there advert for the mount.

Sportsman's Finest had 2 in stock.................now 1

hunt in South Carolina with a max of 400 too

I have two binoculars-

1) Zeiss Victory 8x32. Found them like new on eBay a couple years ago for about $1200 I believe. Awesome binoculars I use the most for deer and turkey hunting. Small and light enough that they are never in the way, but great glass and resolution.
