Bipod for AICS stock options..and advice ? I can not pay $ 275 for an atlas.. what are some options? and what do I need to know.... I shoot sniper matches..and tactical matches at TVP... I shoot a 260.. I have been shooting a cheap Blackhawk since I have started.. I'm building a custom rifle now. My stock is a classic AICS 1.5 .. thanks for any info

A Harris with swivel base and notches fits the bill just fine and will bolt right up to the sling swivel with no modifications. I prefer the atlas, but a Harris works too.

+1 on the Harris if an Atlas is out. If you want it to mount to a rail you can either go the BT19 Spigot Mount / BT20/BT20B Rail Kit for the front or use a BT28 AFAR rail that will fit into the slot on the bottom of the 1.5.

Hey Rusty, Margie and I will be at TVP this weekend for the headhunter, and the next weekend for the short course, we both run AICS stocks with Harris bipods on them. At first we just attached them to the sling swivel, then we ended up using Big Dog Steels AI spigot mount along with Alamo Four Stars DLOC converting them to attach to a rail mount.
Your more then welcome to check them out and ask anything about them.
John.

If you don't have the budget for an Atlas, then the basic Harris BRM-S (6-9", swivel, leg-notch) with the addition of a pod-loc at ~$115 total will work just fine until funds allow otherwise (or for the long-haul for that matter unless you just WANT to upgrade down the road).

As for the above recommendation on the Harris, BDS spigot mount and DLOC...well that's just sort of nonsense when you realize how much you have invested versus going ahead and opting for an Atlas with Spigot setup in the first place, but to each their own I suppose. I do prefer the spigot type mounts with any bipod on the AICS as it gets your bipod mounted out a lot further which will give you added stability over the basic swivel stud mounted closer in on the rifle.

In my opinion, either do a Harris right onto the existing swivel, or get an Atlas mounted on the spigot. No need to make this more complicated than it is.

i only see 2 options for a spigot to mount a harris onto a AI... ACCU and big dog..... both being way more then i want to spend.... any other options?

Accu-Shot BT19 spigot mount (~$70), Accu-Shot BT20B Bottom Rail (~$25) and a Harris with a rail-mount. That's the least expensive route I can think of at ~$95 for just the spigot/rail. If you don't already have a rail-mount Harris, you can also get an AR-15/10 rail to swivel-stud adapter for the BT20B rail and use a std swivel-stud mount Harris (the adapters will run you <$30...some far cheaper, but you get what you pay for). Don't know of any other cheaper alternatives at this time.

My cousin is using a Harris on his swivel stud on his Surgeon in an aics and his is .260. I have shot his rifle many times and it is unbelievable. Very solid. I myself have an aics and use the big dog with an Atlas running a .308 and it is comfy but I can't honestly say it is any better or worse. A Harris works great off of the swivel.
