In the world of top end AR's where does Black Rain rank? I am going to Register a lower for SBR and kinda thinking about a Black Rain. With the trouble and expense and time for the tax stamp are these lowers signicantly better than Rock Rivers? I have never had a billet lower. Thanks!

My opinion on Black Rain is that they are overpriced and flashy rifles. Yeah they are pretty nice, but nothing special and just not for me.
If you want a nice Billet lower go with a Seekins Precision, or the new Midwest Industries looks very nice. I have not had my hands on an MI billet lower yet but that will most likely be my next one for a build.

Quentin Defense also makes a really nice billet lower for the price. I used one for an SBR and it turned out real nice!
I had a black rain receiver set that I built off of, the fit and finish is good, it doesnt offer much over good forged receivers feature wise. If you want a nice one I wiuld go with a mega receiver set or rainier ultra match.
Rock River is not exactly high end. If you want a high quality lower, get a Seekins, Noveske Gen3, BCM, etc. If you want billet, I would look at Seekins, JP, Mega or Rainier Arms.

Any particular reason you want a billet lower? For the same money, you can get a good quality forged lower and have enough $ left over to cover the cost of the SBR tax.
If you must have a billet lower the Seekins is way cool

Personally, I wouldn't put Black Rain into the top tier. I'd SBR an AXTS, KAC, San Tan, LWRC, Seekins, Mega, or Gen 4 POF before a BR. I would agree that they're overpriced for what they are compared to what's available.
I agree their complete rifles are overpriced. I did pick up a receiver set because they are from my state and got a good deal on them. It turned into a decent little carbine.
Is that a hydrodip?
Thanks for the comments guys! Yes it is hydrodip with a matte clearcoat over top. Not shown in the pic, but also done with this rifle were a Surefire X300 Ultra that rides on the side, a stubby VFG and 3 more mags. The finish has stood up well so far, but it hasn't been abused to much.
