i was looking into buying a howa rifle with rifle with the blackhawk axiom stok and had heard that the stocks werent good for using for long range shooting becuase the stocks recoil springs made the rifle inaccuarate does anyone have information wether this is right or wrong

I finished a Howa build a few months ago. I had looked at an Axiom stock for about three minutes before deciding they were gimmicky trash. Went with a B&C instead.

I would actually take "The ultimate sniper" stock over this. Not saying much though.

They are major pieces of shite...plain and simple.
There are several different effective methods for reducing recoil, but do yourself a favor and skip the gimmicks!
In short, to reduce recoil you can:
1) add weight to the rifle;
2) invest in some training and make sure you are using proper techniques when shooting;
3) invest in a properly installed muzzle brake specifically designed for recoil reduction; and/or
4) install a decent recoil pad if your rifle doesn't come with one (i.e. - a steel buttplate isn't a good at reducing recoil as a quality Limbsaver, Decelerator or KickEez pad).

Are they still made out of billet aluminum? This one is and it's very stable "0" flex. It's a Long action model and my 300WSM is sitting in it. The recoil reduction it provides with the 208 A-max means I can shoot all day with little or no fatigue. I definitely don't feel handicapped with this stock over a conventional accuracy wise.

I have a Howa in 243 with that stock on it. I haven't noticed any accuracy issue. the rifle easily shoots .5 MOA at 100 yds,I have shot a 2.5 in group at 400 yds with the rifle. although it is a pain to get a good rear bag rest on it if I have the bipod extended to max height, as far as the recoil reduction it doesn't really matter as a 243 doesn't have much anyway.

I've had no problems accuracy wise. The billet aluminum chassy provides solid contact with the action and I have no flex at all on a bi-pod. As far as ergonomics, it's comfortable to shoot but as said above it can be a pain in the ass getting your bag rite for elevation adjustments.

For a .308 and under, this stock is not desirable nor does it show it's true worth. If your going to shoot a Magnum and a break isn't an option this stock is for you.
The barrel I have shown in the picture is a Kreiger #17 HV.

The ones i have handled felt very flimsy and cheap.
Particularily on a mag w/o a brake i would be concerned about "scope eye" make sure you have plenty of eye relief if you must try the stock
