I know I know, I hate to do this, and I'm pretty sure it will work out fine, but I guess I need a little reassurance. Right now, I have a Weaver 20MOA base with Nightforce low rings .885", and a 50mm (57mm outside diameter) objective, and it clears my varmint contour barrel by 6mm (The scope is a Vortex PST 6-24x50mm). Well, I'm doing an M40A5 build with a few twists, so I have ordered a new barrel with M40 contour, and a Badger 30MOA base. If anyone has experience with a similar setup to mine, will you reassure that this will clear? I am not putting Butler Creek caps on it, so that does not have to be accounted for (I've lost all respect for them, and will never waste my money on them again).

Also, I will be switching to M40A3 30mm rings shortly, and I believe they are the same height if not a little taller.

Re: BO 30MOA & Ring Height Question

It is going to be close but I think you should make it. If not then sell the .885 rings and get a set of higher rings.

I had a 50mm objective scope on a 20 MOA Badger base with the same contour barrel in 1" height rings and had a good amount of room between the butler creek cover and the barrel. The 30 MOA base isn't going to change much.

You can see the gap in this video. It's about the best pic I have showing the gap.

Re: BO 30MOA & Ring Height Question

Alright, I appreciate the help. I estimate that it will probably clear somewhere between 3-1mm, but that is extremely close, so I was wondering if anyone had tried to run this same setup. Thanks for the video Rob, I think I might be able to clear after seeing the gap you had in that video. It will still be very close though.
