Might need it outside the gunshop. This is a pic of my truck from last year.
Customer came in and asked if we buy guns, said sure, make sure it is unloaded and bring it in. He said it "just went off" as he got it out of the trunk of his car, right into the side of my new truck. He had no insurance of course, mine paid almost $4k to get it fixed.

There have been plenty of loaded guns brought it that we were told were unloaded.
So many stories, so little time.

I guess if your in an area that made the hairs on your head stand up and you were in fear of your life constantly and crime was rampant with thugs packin heat and using it close, hell ya! I would be wearing body armor and packin my trusted side arm with a shotgun close by and probably thinking about moving because there has got to be a better way to live than this.

Very often I see the workers at the gunshops I go into open carrying. I always wonder what the stats are on gunshop robberies? For you law inforcement guys is this common? I am asking cause I dont know. I of somewhat sound body and mind would not rob a gunshop. This seems like a good place to find a loaded gun pointing back at you. I do get the pawn shop thing (mostly because of their clientel). But a gunshop I would just not rob. I do however think that it a excellent marketing message for some types of the customers they have. Because it is always cool to be toten a big "smoke wagon".
Just my thoughts and questions.

Instead of working at a gun shop wearing body armor....why not work at a porn shop and wear a condom?
It might be a bit safer......just sayin'

Had an ex-girlfriend who's brother was killed while working at a gun-shop. Some guy came in to steal some guns and shot him. I know the perp survived, because her dad hired a hit-man to take the guy out. Turns out the "hit man" was an undercover LEO. Dad's in the slammer now. Just saying, it has happened before.

I wonder if people know what a vest does.

It isnt a magic robe, or enchanted by a virgin angel.

Maybe its the movies that show a guy getting shot, falling as if dead and then magically waking up with the slugs visible on the vest.

Wearing a vest doesnt mean the victim would have lived in the incidents named. They still need to recognize a threat BEFORE things go south and they still have to be able to fight it out, surviving any hits not directly on the vest. The vest wont attract bullets fired in its general direction and if you think badguys (or goodguys for that matter) aim wortha shit, think again.

There are a 1000 what ifs to any event. Most impacts like the shotgun blast would have hit low where major arteries would have been hit bleeding you out fast.

Wear a vest if you want, but be realistic about what it does-

Gives you a binky to suck on while at work.
