Saw this during my last excursion at Cabela's. Been REALLY wanting to get a tripod. I have $200 in Cabela's gift cards to spend so...my question is...is it worth it? Does anyone have any first (or second) hand experience with BOG gear?

they have a spiffy little connector accessory that will accept the PIG/HOG saddle as I am going to be getting one of those next as well.

Thanks in advance!

I have the shorter one, not sure if it would support a rifle in a saddle(because they are lightweight), but they are quality made. I will never go hunt the prairie without mine. I shoot kneeling or seated and it is easily adaptive to un-level terrain. I will sit and rest my hands and binos on the wishbone part of the support and scan back and forth. They make a bino bracket, but I prefer to keep it open.

In short, thumbs up.

I have the CLD-2 bi pod(camo color) and I am very impressed. I use them with my AI AE MKII loaded with suppressor, NF scope it comes in at 18lb and it can support the weight. I have used this combo for tactical matches and have lent the sticks out other shooters who have also been impressed. I added a piece of 550 corded to limit the legs from spreading out as far and gained even more stability. The CLD have a clamping locking mechanism where i believe the other ones have a twisting mechanism.

Thanks for the feedback. Terrell good call on the pcord!! Since you have a heavy weapon, if you stuck a hog saddle on there (you might have I dont know) would you trust it? Stability wise?

I don't have a hog saddle I just use the rubber yoke that they come with as most of the matches I shoot only allow 2 points of contact for "shooting sticks" and they are not to be attached to the gun. Only thing with the bog is the legs have a lot angular travel and you can't lock them so I think the with a hog saddle I think you could have uncontroled move ment depending on balance of the gun. The bog could support the weight but I would get real tripod if that was my end goal.

I dont have one but they feel pretty decent. I carry the stoney point shooting sticks bipod or the PRS cradle on a medium slik. If I dont think I'll need sticks I carry the sticks that fold up and slip together because they can go in the pack easliy. BOG seems well made.

Good luck

I have the cld-3 and its been a great tripod. It has held my 18lb rifle in a saddle many times. It's a tough call between the 2 and the 3. The shorter is nice but doesn't go tall enough for standing. I wanted to be able to run my spotter on it standing so that's why I went with that. It's plenty robust and light.

I have the Bog-Pod tripod (red legged model) for 3 years. It is pretty robust. It is great if you have a little time to set it up before making the shot.

However, I just had a chance to try out the Primus Tall Tripod Trigger stick during several days of hunting last month and was quite impressed.

It sets up amazingly fast. Just spread out the legs and then you can center, level, raise and lower the yoke one handed with the trigger lock while your trigger-finger hand is holding your rifle in the yoke. The legs telescope up & down individually and soundlessly, so being on uneven ground or a sloping hillside is a non-issue. I was surprised how quickly I could set up exactly the shooting position I wanted in just a couple seconds (after a little practice) without making any noise.

As far as robustness, the model trigger stick I used may be slightly less robust than the Bog-Pod. I'm told, however, that this trigger stick is out now in a 2nd generation model with some improvements. It is now going to be my go-to tripod for hunting as soon as it arrives.
