I have a M3HB but its a real hunk of metal to drag around. I want to shoot more 50 long range, but as I am Cali I can't own a barret. I can however get an upper and take it to Vegas with me on the tri-annual trips, assemble it there, and shoot it.

Does anyone have any adive on which gun they woould get if the choices are a Bohica or a Ferret. Cost aside as they are very similar in that department. I havce heard the Bohica's are a bit unreliable...and the Ferret claims 0.2 moa, a very interesting proposition to me.

Re: bohica or Ferret 50 bmg upper?

I am not familiar with the legalities of ownership in CA, so I make the following recommendations based on the ability to legally own whatever you want.

Between the Bohica and the Ferret...absolutely, without any reservation, get the Ferret. I have had an opportunity to shoot some of Dave's complete rifles and his upper conversions and they are the best! I can personally attest to the quality of Dave's work and the accuracy that one can achieve with them with proper ammo, etc. I have shot Ferret50 SuperComp 50BMG rifles out to 1,200 yards with sub-MOA accuracy. They have had excellent results in FCSA-sponsored 50BMG matches as well.

Now...with that said...if I were to buy a commercially available, factory .50BMG (not a custom build), I would buy an Armalite AR-50. They are, by far, the best bang for the buck these days in complete .50BMG rifles and can be had, new in box, for <$2,800.
