I purchased a new Bergara Ridgeline Special Purpose in 6.5 Creedmoor for a handy weight hunting rifle. I have now fired it on two separate occasions with two separate batches of handloads and encountered the same issue. My first batch of handloads were using full length sized once fired Lapua brass, bumping the shoulder about .002”. This was measured with one of those Hornady gauges. The second batch of loads would now be twice fired brass from the same rifle using the same bump procedures. I measured the distance to lands and I am way off because I can’t fit them in the magazine and get anywhere close. The bullets are 130 Berger HVLD. Case measurements are all within spec. The rifle was cleaned prior to both outings. What ends up happening is the rounds all feed and chamber fine while I am doing range work. I get out to the blind and the rounds all the sudden have a hell of a time getting the bolt to close. I am shooting suppressed, so maybe the chamber is getting dirty?
For example, I shot 12 times yesterday morning dialing a scope in. Everything chambered fine and no issues. I get to the blind yesterday afternoon and all 4 rounds I had with me were extremely difficult to get the bolt to close. Nothing different about the rounds. What am I missing here?
