Got a call a few hours ago about the possibility of hopping on a plane to Denver CO till mid next week.

Any ideas where i might be able to enjoy some long range steel shooting around Denver or an hour tops two from the Downtown?

Thanks!

Colorado Rifle Club is a membership only club. On the weekends cheyenne mountain shooting complex has steel to 1068. It's in south colorado springs. Pawnee sportsman center is another public range North of Denver in Briggsdale.

I think your best bet is going to be M5B2CFF's suggestion. I don't recommend trying to drive to national forest/blm and looking for a place to shoot long range - unless you don't mind going on a nice drive in the mountains and not shooting. It is really tough to find public land within 2 hours of Denver to shoot long range.

The 1K range at the Pawnee Sportsman's Center has no impact berms behind any of the targets, so it's almost impossible to spot misses. I don't go there anymore because the owners won't or can't fix this. So, unless you can accompany a member to the CRC, go to the Cheyenne Mtn range.

Yup, they don't give a shit about investing a few buck to create a usable facility. Crappy customer attitude as well. I dropped my membership after 2 years.

Great guns range in Nunn (just past Fort Collins) has steel to 1000, I think it's $20 a day for guests. If the timing is right, you could possibly catch a match in Cheyenne, roughly 900 yard max, 50 Rd, and $10.

I'm at fort Carson and shoot at the Cheyenne mountain shooting complex. It's 10 dollars to shoot all day. You can shoot out to 1K.

That's new, interesting. Last time I was out there it was 300 yds max and no body hardly was ever on the range. Nice facility.
