Does the bolt stop on a Savage 110 have anything to do with cocking the rifle? Thinking about grinding mine off if the trigger will still function properly.
My bolt release button is on the trigger guard. The B&C stock I just bought was not inletted for that(so I found out after the fact). This is causing me to have to take the stock off and manually press the bolt release lever located on the sear. Here is a pic of the part I am considering taking off, the black piece sticking up on the right hand side. I just want to know if I do this will the trigger still function properly?
That piece sticking up is what controls the firing pin.
If you chop it off, it will no longer hold the firing pin backward or release it when you pull the trigger.
