Re: Bootlace pistol rest
Yeah, I'd like a picture on the proper use of it too. Not to bash you or be mean at all, but I don't see how it would lend an advantage or where I might use it. At the range I have bags, rests and other stuff if I need it. In the field I can use a branch or whatever if necessary. In a fight in public I don't have time, and in combat/training that pistol only came out because the rifle quit working. And what soldier is gonna remove a bootlace during a firefight? I actually had mine knotted at the bottom so they wouldn't come out. Can you imagine doing this and needing to pull back and losing your boot while providing cover fire with an M9 and a bootlace in your mouth? I guess I just don't get it.
And I don't HAVE to go out and try it. I can get a pretty good idea of it in my head without it, what it would feel like etc. I've shot pistols to 200m fairly accurately from the Harris stance and I've put five of seven .357's in an army silhouette at 300m (my best ever with a handgun) and did that one single handed if memory serves me well.
As for boot laces in the mouth, wouldn't it work as well or better if you had it around your neck or shoulder? I walked through some nasty shit in my combat boots and there is no way I'm putting that lace in my mouth, and this is nearly ten years later.
Sure this wasn't an old survival technique? Like if you lost use of one arm? I could see how it may help one aim and also reload if under stress, on the run, and one handed. Especially left handed, you could possibly use it to stabilize the pistol and fire left handed while aiming with the right eye. But again, I think it would be more advantageous to have it tethered around the neck.
