After contacting Bootleg regarding their Bootleg adjustable carrier failing to cycle in my rifle unsuppressed in any configuration, I was given this tidbit. The Bootleg adjustable bolt carrier group is designed to ONLY function with a carbine length system with a carbine buffer. It is NOT capable of functioning in a comparable fashion to "regular" bolt carrier groups. It will not function with a Vltor A5 System. Bootleg chose not to share these substantially specific configuration requirements in any product listing, video, or advertisement. I now have a completely useless $200 bolt carrier group. That kind of deceptive marketing is truly despicable. Per Bootleg's website, the only design restriction is related to this products use in 223/556 chambered firearms. 6 months of searching before purchasing this carrier and this information was not found anywhere. I guess I'll be purchasing a demonstrably superior AO Precision BCG for $90.

Two Bootleg adjustable carriers that work with a rifle length system? The rep specifically told me that they are only designed to function with carbine buffer tube, carbine spring, and carbine spring so that fact that mine will not function with a Vltor A5 even with an H0 buffer is not considered "defective"...
The gas length has nothing to do with the Buffer tube, spring or buffer. The A5 is its own system. Sounds to me like you're mix and matching the wrong parts.
I have a Bootleg that works great in my mid length. I also have a Gemtech in a mid length as well. Both are awesome. Try the Gemtech as well. I found a Gemtech for my MWS in .308 also. They work awesome. Either on or off. No dicking around with tuning gas blocks. Very simple and reliable.
Sounds like you're confused. There is a carbine length buffer tube and a rifle length/A5 buffer tube. Try to keep up champ
is your rifle a factory or home built? I’m not a fan of the BL bcg but, you are leaving a lot of information out.
A5 and rifle tubes are not the same. What tube/buffer/spring are you using?

As it's been painfully explained to you in detail in the other Bootleg thread you posted you clearly are not understanding how that system works or it's intended use.
Instead you'd rather create ANOTHER thread this time just to bitch about a company because you can't seem to understand how the components you've chosen to run are designed to work.

I am using Bootleg bolt carriers with:
458 SOCOM, 16.5" carbine length, Vltor A5
6.5 Grendel, 12.5" carbine length, GA SOB
223 Wylde 18" rifle length, JP Silent Capture
All work great. I have also mixed uppers and lowers and know they also work with H1 carbine and rifle buffers.
I have not tried to use one in 300 blackout, and can easily imagine that trying to bleed off any gas shooting subsonic ammo would cause cycling issues. My guess why they say only for 5.56.
Great product and I think it will work well on any 5.56, 6 ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8mm or big boomer as long as the rifle will work with a standard bolt carrier before you swap it.

Yup. This was all explained to him previously, but he seems to be taking the stance that he'd rather complain and blame, than to learn and fix his rifle.
Obviously no system is perfect if the components don't work well together, and his comments sure seem to indicate that something is not working right in his setup.

I have thousands of rounds on a 18” rifle length with A5 gun and bootleg carrier. Suppressed and unsuppressed.
Bootleg Adjustable Gas Carriers have become my go-to carrier for all my recent projects dating back to 2017.
All have been CLGS 6.5 Grendel shorties, and my workhorse 17.6” MLGS Grendel.
Last year, I was at the range confirming zeroes with my youngest son.
We shot 110gr PPU and 123gr ELD-M. I dialed the Bootleg more open to run the 110gr PPU with 4:30 ejection, because it was set for 123gr ELD-M prior to that.
With the 12” Grendel when I first shot it, I was using a PDW short RET, short stiff action spring that came with it, and tiny little buffer (still 2.9oz but shorter than carbine buffers.).
That gun ran smoother than almost any other AR-15 I have owned or fired for whatever reason (The only smoother ones have been JP SCR and LaRue Stealth 2.0 off the top of my head). That was with 90gr TNT Federal factory load, suppressed.
To me, it does seem to reduce gassy ejection port effects since the gas is choked under the carrier key with a 4-way regulator shaft.
I put one in my latest 10.5” Grendel CLGS as well, with an SB Tactical Honey Badger PDW back end (short RET, short stiff spring, tiny buffer as well).
I have no affiliation with the company other than a very satisfied customer.

I have ran it successfully on mid, intermediate and rifle length gas systems. Running H2 buffers and tubb flatware buffer springs in all. That said, I transitioned to the riflespeed.com tool less adjustable gas blocks and have relegated the bootleg carriers to the parts bin.
