BOTACH up to Old Tricks - Caught Selling Fake HOG Saddles

Haven't heard much of them lately, I thought maybe they cleaned their act up but maybe not. I guess they thought they laid low for long enough they could get away with their old antics again, this time caught pulling a bait and switch. Customers would think they're going to get a MOD7 HOG Saddle when looking at the listing, but they really get an in-house made piece of shit. Imagine that, getting "BOTACH'ed" is still a thing...

Someone gave us a tip that Botach Tactical might be selling knock off HOG Saddles under our Registered product name.
(We have done one drop-ship LE order through Botach two years ago. They have NEVER held inventory.) We had a third party purchase a MOD7 HOG Saddle from their webstore last week… And lo and behold, we did not receive a MOD7 HOG Saddle. We received a knock-off tripod clamp that Botach is building in house.

It would be a farfetched coincidence to have our product:
• Mistakenly listed below the agreed upon Retail pricing
• Mistakenly listed our product in-stock
• Mistakenly overlooked the quantity on hand (QOH) marking of negative two.
• Mistakenly made quantity & product verification marks on packing list
• Mistakenly shipped out a knock-off product to us in a blank white box.
You can make your own conclusion about that…

We have no idea how long this has been going on for but it appears to have been stopped.
Botach Tactical has a long history of breaking business agreements and selling customers products they do not have.
Beware who you do business with.

John Edmond the website and marketing manager for BOTACH Tactical contacted us via FB.
Part of his job is to improve the company’s reputation on social media ironically.

He initially contacted us claiming no affiliation with Botach, but also claimed that Botach had not sold a HOG Saddle in two years and that the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] party who purchased the fake HOG Saddle had actually purchased a different product all together. He said our claims were false.


He then implied to the possibility of selling our products but purchasing them from one of our dealers for resale.
I asked for the easily obtainable paper trail of where they purchased the HOG Saddles with no response.

FACT: Botach Tactical has been selling MOD7 HOG Saddles and/or other products under our trademarked name and we have never shipped Botach Tactical a single product of ours....
All the deflections and slander coming out of Botach cannot change that fact.

We have the order confirmations, receipts, monetary transaction, and end product in hand.

I assume you mean the FB thread, not this one, when you say "...given who posted the thread". I have no relationship with HOG Saddle other than being a customer at one time, same as with Botach before I knew better. Everything from the link down is a repost of HOG Saddle's FB post which I copied for the 2/3 of the world's population that doesn't have FB.

I believe the evidence HOG Saddle posted is pretty plain that their side of the story is the correct one. Calling something fake news doesn't make it so, just ask the WH.

Not sure how you weave together the original PSA post (by a respected member here) to citing that suit. Seems like some desperate spaghetti throwing in the hopes that a smear against the Shadow Tech may stick. Good luck with that.

But it did get me to thinking, so I read the entire case file, except for Cade's deposition. Ho-fucking-hum is about all that action amounts to. But then I did some poking around on Botach. Holy shit, you guys deserve your own memorial in the Federal Court system (not to mention CA, and VA and FL...).

Be more thoughtful the next time you load up a post.

So one thing I don't quite understand is how the Hog Saddle is regarded as a patent-infringing copy of the Triclaw yet the Botach Battle Steel isn't.

Though it has to be flattering that in the lawsuit item 11: "On information and belief, Plaintiff and Defendants account for the majority of sales of camera tripod-mounted rifle rests in the United States."

Tragically patent infringement lawsuits are part of the normal course of business these days. large corporations with deep pockets file these suits by the hundreds with no intention of actually litigating them. they bully the small guys who have done nothing wrong and have shallower pockets to sell or settle to avoid a costly trial process.

BoTach is one of those companies where I have no idea how they are still in business. Not only are they known on every board in the world as having less in stock on their website than TNVC, but they are also shady as fuck and if you order from them there's a high chance you'll never get your order and then have to fight your way through their non existent CS for a refund.

Apparently they must get a lot of 'first timer' business before the people know any better.

I started doing business with botach in 2001 or so. They were recommended by a buddy and the days of everything in the world being for sale on the internet were in their infancy. We bought a TON of shit from them over the next few years with good success. My last deal was for some USMC desert boots with the EGA embossed on them. Order arrived and looked like someone had removed the EGA with a belt sander. I returned them and by that point had found a few million better retailers on the interwebs.
Ive heard the botach nightmares in the intervening years and just consider myself lucky that I never fell prey to their current BS.
