I need to have DBM installed in a McMillan HTG stock. Both CDI and PTG offer inletting with purchase. Both seem to have a turn around time of 2-3 weeks. Any recommendations on with either one good or bad? Other suggestions welcome as well.
Thanks

I'm going to also suggest the American Precision Arms (APA) bottom metal. It has the same footprint as the Badger M5 bottom metal but cheaper and better IMO. Takes AI an AW mags and it's 7075 T6 if that matters to you.

In my opinion the CDI bottom metal isn't the quality that the Surgeon, Badger, and PTG stealth is(when PTG makes it right).

Those brands, and a couple other like APA maybe, I can't remember, do it right. The mag is held in place both upward and downward... meaning the mag is not only held in from falling out the bottom, but is held from being pushed upward too much and rubbing against the bolt.

The last time I saw a CDI, it did not properly stop the mag from being able to travel up too high and hit or even block the bolt.

Get a Surgeon or Badger and have some one good inlet/fit it. Buy once and cry once.

I have a few PTG SA/LA pieces on the shelf. M700 type. I can install this and have you on your way in a couple days. It's easy enough work.

$100 to do the work
$129 for the DBM.

New ARC SA magazines on the shelf in bulk. $70/ea.

I've installed a great deal of DBM systems over the years. The Badgers are literally made next door to me. It's all nice stuff, but I've proven there's not one single reason to spend 2x the price unless you just like having the ability to tell your buddies what your floor metal cost. They all work just fine if they are setup properly. Surgeons are a bit wider so I encourage those to be used on stocks with a little more girth in the receiver area. Your HTG would be fine for this.

Everything is Cad modeled and cnc inletted on a 4axis machine. I've done this work for 15 years.

Happy to help.

C.

I just received my A5 from McMillan, purchased from their inlet-ready inventory. I had it inletted for M5 bottom metal, but spent some time researching the PTG and BO options. I ended up going with the Badger because I preferred the magazine latch on their enhanced model and the "barricade stop" looks like a handy feature. The fit and finish on the Badger is (as expected) top notch, as was the inletting job done by McMillan.

My freshly trued/re-barreled/Cerakoted 700 barreled-action is due to arrive tomorrow, which will be bedded to the A5 with Marine Tex.
