I've never liked the jason bourne series. I guess i'm not a huge Matt Damon fan. But Jeremy Renner and Edward Nortan are too good actors. I think it looks pretty good myself.

Sure looks like it. At first i was like what the hell was is a windrunner. So then i figured there is no way he's talking about clothes, googled windrunner rifle. lol

    Maybe it's the mini?

    He isn't Jeremy Renner is..

    Re: Bourne Legacy

Looks promising. I hope it's not just another Hollywood attempt to cash in on previous successes though. Jason Borne is unbelievable enough, this guy sounds like a super version of Jason Borne but I'll see it based on that preview.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

If you like the movies, you should deffinately read the books. Robert Ludlum is by far one of the greatest writers I have ever seen. The books are hard to put down .

I disagree, Matt Damon didn't do it for me in the first bourne movie. I've seen parts of them and stopped watching cause I just had no interest. Matt Damon's good, but Jeremy Renner is better. Hell the class of actors in this movie is much better, Jeremy Renner, Edward Nortan, and Rachel Weisz. That tops Matt Damon, Clive Owen, and Brian Cox IMO.

I never saw why the originals got such high ratings maybe i need to re-watch one or something.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

I was highly suspect at first but this could be good....

    Jeremy Renner
    Edward Norton
    Rachel Weisz

plus a good number of actors ('Pamela Landy', the doctor who recruited Jason, etc) are back so there should be good continuation.

Plus it is a story that could definitely be continued...it makes sense that Bourne wasn't the only agent. Not much of a stretch to continue the story line.

I agree and I bet he does, it would help tie it together and lend some credibility to this story line.

Yeah, the books were very different from the movies (especially the second and third ones) but they are in a class all of their own. Very intelligent.

I just saw the preview for this new one last night, and I will definitely catch this one in theaters.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

Ludlum books, like that hack Tom Clancy, are written to a formula. If you read one, you've read them all.

About the only contemporary adventure story writer that isn't predictable is Frederick Forsyth. In the spy genre John LeCarre continues to innovate his stories.

Saw the 3 Bourne movies. They were okay if you like boyish Damon. He is equally boring in the Oceans series. Damon is the male counterpart to Julia Roberts, boring and dumb-looking. YMMV

    THE MEDIA WAS CORRECT! </div></div>

I wondered that too. I sure hope not. The reason Bourne movies were good was because of gritty realism vs hollywood bs.

Yes! And it will turn out that Damon is NOT Jason Bourne, but he had stayed at a Holiday Inn the night before.

Not talking about Damon, I'm not a big Damon fan, but rather, the character of Jason Bourne not being in a movie about the character, Jason Bourne. I am a fan of the character and his story. Who plays who or what, IDGAF. Its like a Batman Movie thats about Robin and only talks about Batman but never shows him and is named for him. They should have called it "treadstone" or something related to the original series plot, not continued on with a character's name and then not show or have it be about the character. A whole 'nother series could have been made with different actors and that would be fine. Probably could delve deeper in the background and have some cool stuff in there since it takes focus away from one main characters story. This is going the way of Star Trek, and the Next Generation... 10 years from now instead of Kirk or Picard, it will be Bourne or This guy...

NOTE: Not a Trekkie, but for the record, Kirk because he would and did tap any and every POA he encountered, plus Shatners version of "Rocket Man" is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

the problem with 90% of the actors/actresses out there is that you can like them in movies but as soon as they open their mouth off at an interview that has any political context you want beat the shit out of them with a stick and not pay to see another one of their movies.....

ie: Matt Damon is an idiot liberal

    This trailer does look promising

You can't judge it that way or at least IMO you can't. I could care less what he does off screen, as long as he produces a good performance on screen which is what i pay to watch, not his interviews and his social life. It's like all the hate with Mel Gibson crazy or not the man has a serious talent for acting, and i've never seen emotion displayed on Mel's level in some of his movies. It's so damn good it'd be hard to believe he's acting. The moment he loses his first son in the patriot, or he get betrayed in braveheart, or when he is attempting suicide in lethal weapon. Look at his eyes it's as though he is really feeling what he displays. Same goes for robert downey but he's been resurrected so to speak. As well as Tom Cruise, he's a scientologist or whatever, i'm a christian but am i going to stop watching his movies because of his beliefs or actions? Absolutely not, because i don't give a damn what he does off stage, it's what he does on stage that i pay to see and he does it well i might add.

It's kind of like music, you may listen to some things but that doesn't mean you agree with them by any means. I like Slipknot, do i wear a pentagram across my chest, tattoo 666 on my forehead, and call myself a maggot? Nope, just a regular guy that has a wide range in music.

    Just my perspective on it.

That being said i'm just not a damon fan never have been. He does his job in the departed because the by the end of the movie i hate his character. He also does decent in the adjustment bureau, he's really good in "Good Will Hunting" and thats about the extent of the movies ilike with Damon in them.

I loved the books also. I wish the movies would have followed the books better. They were good but not what I expected.

    Sorry couldn't help myself.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

Yeah, I've watched the Bourne Trilogy a bunch of times and enjoyed them. Then I found out Damon was anti-gun. Kinda spoiled things from then on.

As for Tom Cruise, I never see any of his movies. That guy is a total douche. Just my 2 cents...

    Re: Bourne Legacy

The reason the movies didn't follow the books that close is the same reason Shooter didn't follow Stephen Hunters original Point of Impact. From the time the books were written till the movies were made was a span of several years, the cold war was over. They had to use more modern references. I liked the Bourne movies and I like the previews i've seen of this new one. And the title says hes not in it...Legacy refers to what he left behind him. I guess we will see, it's just entertainment after all. Not history.

    Re: Bourne Legacy

The change in line-up is refreshing. I can't stand commie liberals that take on big Hollywood roles, and hate the guns they wield in the movie. Matt Damon: stick with your causes and leave the action roles to guys that own it.
