Did they solve the carrier tilt issues? If you're going for a piston set up... stick with POF, LMT and LWRC. I've got a M6A2 that has had zero issues to date.

I'm ok with the weight and yes they fixed the tilt issue , it's more reasonably priced then the lmts that's why am lookin at the ruger. I'm just mainly looking
for any serious downfalls it may have?

Yeah I know, I own a pair of P95s and a Mark ii and they're all great guns. It still sits uneasy though.

It didn't sit well with me either, but it appears Ruger has turned a corner after his death, represented by the fact that they now offer a AR rifle w/ hi-cap mags.

My only problem with my SR 556 is the very heavy trigger pull and very front heavy. It seems like the trigger pull is 50% greater than my Colt AR's or my SCAR. Doesn't allow real accurate shooting, at least for me.

Re: Bout to Buy Ruger 5.56 any thoughts?

I am thinking of trading a shotgun and some ammo for one at my local shop tomorrow seems okay to me. Still, after getting home I am having seconds thoughts about it. Very nice rifle quality in my opinion. Just something I can't put my finger on I don't like.

Re: Bout to Buy Ruger 5.56 any thoughts?

It would all depend on the deal I could get on one. I am not sold on the Ruger 5.56 at this point. I have tried and used many Ruger Mini's, Revolvers and thought they were decent weapons for the price. I think the new Ruger is still too new to have all of the knicks worked out of it..

For the price of an SR 556 I'd get a Colt 6920. I have both and much prefer the 6920. It's more accurate, reliable, cost less,
parts (and upgrades if desired) readily available and much lighter. I see no advantage of my SR 556 over the 6920 and a few disadvantages.

Re: Bout to Buy Ruger 5.56 any thoughts?

Great rifle I think. I used one of a friends a few times and it was ok so I got my own. At 1st I had a problem with it sooting way off to the side and had to adjust the sight all the way over to get on target at 25yds. I called Ruger and they repaired it. They paid shipping and everything great customer service. It took a little while to get repaired but about 6 weeks later I hada call they were done and would be shipping it back. They replaced the upper reciever polished the load ramps and did a few other things I don't recall at teh moment. When I got it back I was supprised it shot so well but the trigger was heavy so I replaced it with a match trigger pack I had laying around. I think it was an LMT or RRA. I was using standard LC m855 and it shot under 1" at 100m. A friend I was shooting with had some 223 match ammo and using sandbags and a bench got under .5moa with it. Just one ragged hole on 3 targets. He said it shoots better than his factory Colt Match Target HBAR rifle. I have only fired about 100 rds through it so far but I have not noticed any signs of bolt carrier tilt. I am not sure what I would be looking for with that but I don't see any strange wear on the carrier or reciever.

Re: Bout to Buy Ruger 5.56 any thoughts?

Push your buffer back an inch or two and eventually you will see some wear at the bottom of the buffer tube. Mine started showing up after 200 rounds or so. Nothing major yet. I hope it doesn't become a problem.

Re: Bout to Buy Ruger 5.56 any thoughts?

Slash over on arfcomm sells the anti-tilt buffers for piston guns. It would help the buffer issue.

Early SR556s had issues, but I believe most if not all are worked out now.
