I have a savage axis 2 action, connected to a varmint contour criterion barrel. I ordered a Boyds pro varmint for a bull barrel. This is my 3rd boyds stock and other than changing out action screws I have never had an issue. This is my first rifle however with an aftermarket barrel. I would assume since i ordered for a bull barrel I should have plenty of barrel clearance. Well, I do not. The barrel sits on the stock before the action goes down, and it still is not touching the recoil lug. I have emailed boyds and sent pictures but it takes them several days to reply. I was planning on eventually bedding the stock but now I am not sure if I should go through the trouble of modifying this one? I guess it is possible they sent the wrong stock.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to have to modify this thing. I have a milling machine and could take more out of the channel but I am not sure what all they have in there as far as frame etc. And it looks like i would have to mill out a lot.
