Does anyone know if the Boyds' Tacticool CZ Magnum stocks can be converted in some way (or if they can fit at all) for a standard .22lr? I bought the magnum stock for my .17hmr but am thinking about selling the .17 and getting the same 452 Varmint in .22lr for better practice costs and penetration.

In my mind it should be able to just by blocking part of the magwell or something but I wanted to ask.

The inlet for both stocks are basically the same with differences for either the barrel screw or the rear action screw. The center action screw (I say center action screw because it's placement is near the center of the receiver) will always be in the same place no matter what--the larger cutout for the magazine in the magnum version should not matter since your will have a bottom metal there to hold your screw. If you go to the boyd's website to see the differences in inletting you will see that the 452 american 22lr will fit in the magnum inletted stock since that is the stock with the rear action screw hole. Just look at your screw placement. If you have a barrel screw and center action screw then get the 22lr stock. If you have a center action screw with a rear action screw then you need to get the magnum stock.

Because I did not know any better and no one told me I actually got the 22lr stock for my 452 american 22lr which of course would not work without modification. I just drilled the correct size hole in the back basically duplicated the hole in my 452 american stock.

If you want to use the magnum stock with your varmint then you will need to do the same thing except this time you will need to duplicate the hole in your barrel channel area for the barrel screw.

Hope this helps
