Let’s say I need $97 to buy a new phone (I am a broke high school kid).
So I ask my mom to lend me $50 and I also asked my dad to lend me $50.
Now I owe Mom and dad = $100.
I purchase the phone and I had $3 left.
Gave my mom $1
Gave my dad $1
And I kept the remaining $1
Now i owe my parents $49 each, that’s a total of $98.
If I add the $1 left with me to the total sum owed, this gives us $99.
Where is the missing $1 to make it complete $100 ?

Each parents owned share of the phone was $48.50. As 97/2= 48.5. Which leaves $1.50 left per parent 50-48.5= 1.5. 1.5x2= 3 there was $3 left. Not only would you be a broke high school student, you would be bad at basic math. ?
