I'm getting ready to have my ar-15 barrel threaded and was wondering if there are any brakes out there that will match up fairly well in diameter where the brake meets the barrel? My wife just started shooting and the recoil is a bit much for her but she really likes shooting centerfire rifles. I was looking at something like the Badger Micro FTE, it would be very effective at reducing the recoil to a minimum.

I have an Ops Inc 12th model on my MK12 Mod1 clone, but you don't want to be beside it when it is fired. With a rifle length gas system there is no recoil. It fits well with a .750 barrel.

I went with one from Rainier arms, the xtc:

Rainier Arms™ | Browse | Muzzle Devices | Rainier Arms Xtreme Tactical Compensator XTC

It looks decent on my .750. Loud though, but combined with a heavier spring from sprinco (blue one) and a spikes (ST-S2? the tungsten powder one) it is awesome. Like shooting a really really really loud 10/22. I wish I had the $ for an Ops but for nearly 1/4 the price the xtc is workin well enough for now.

I like that POF brake

Sierracharlie out....

Works good.

I have the JP Muzzle brake on my match Lilja Barrel upper. It comes with the crush washer, which I used for now, but the brake actually does match up fairly seamless with the diameter of the barrel. Only thing I have left to do at this point is have the length of the brake trimmed a couple thousandths so the threads align properly with the barrel so it looks like one piece.

The machining on the JP brake is very smooth and more of a polished stainless, the Lilja matched barrel is a little more coarse. I'm sure from 5 feet away it would look like almost invisible.
