Anyone have a good brass catcher for an AR?

I bought a Colt AR from my buddy that drives tacks with my his reloads so I am going to start reloading for it. Chasing brass around sucks though so thought someone might have a good idea on a catcher. The net deal you see at Midway looks cheesy but if it works I'll use it.

This is from a guy over on hkpro and I think it's a brilliant way to catch brass. It's nothing more than an adjustable camera tripod, a piece of plywood, a college laundry hamper, and one of those binder clips.

The few times I've used mine, I will occasionally notice FTE (NEVER had a FTE when not using brass catcher). If your brass is going everywhere, you may want to inspect and replace your extractor spring. With a good extractor spring (crane-o kits really help) all your brass should fly into a rather small pile. I can usually put an empty beer case where they fly and most will make it into the box. I really like this laundry hamper idea though.

Depending on where you shoot I just use a tarp. I fold up the ends when I am done wrap it up with a bungee cord and throw it in the back of my truck. Done and done.

I have three of the $10 ones from midway in use on my ARs. They are excellent and you don't even know that they are in place, no failures at all. At the bench I leave the bottom unzipped and the brass just drops. So far all at the range who have tried them now have them in place. Regards

Lots of good ideas and input here. But I want to add a little food for for thought. Unless the catcher is attached to the firearm then it is only functional from one static position. I don't know about the rest of ya'll but I do like to do a little run-n-gun from time to time and my AR is normally what I use for these.

I just got one of the cadwell ones (the net on the side of the gun)..for bench stuff I think I will use it but for runnin and gunnin I doubt if I will. Just have to go back to the time tested method..bend over and pick it up

They don't work with a 1-piece mount. When I pointed this out to the manufacturer of the 3BUCC brass catcher about two years ago he seemed surprised and said he'd look into it but it doesn't appear that anything has been done to correct this shortcoming. If there's room to attach the mounting block it works great. My biggest complaint, though, is he wants $20 for additional mounts so if you want to use the brass catcher on multiple guns you might as well just purchase another one. http://www.3bucc.com/

It works fine with the weaver mount I have one mine. You can see the attachment point here right about where the receiver and FF tube meet.
